Could you exemplify some of the differences in efficiency for me? Such as amounts of fuel used, heat in room, difference in temperature etc?

    Hello all,

Got my stove installed at long last:

    Clearview Vision 500

Logs we used weren't seasoned enough.. guess we'll need to find a better supplier in Berkshire.

Can anyone recommend a decent one?

    Thanks

Clearview Pioneer 400, their baby stove.

Running it in now with a not to hot fire, its addictive watching it!

I just need to source some free wood now, i have a fair amount from some small trees taken down in the garden but need to start stocking up as you can see how much wood they will eat!

Hi. The stove is a Percy Doughty Green insert (3kw but they do a 5kw too) and is designed to literally slide into an existing fireplace opening with no modifications whatsoever, no liner required (unless your chimney needs it of course) and is simply removed for sweeping. Cost me £300 and took 15 mins to install max. Best £300 I have spent, uses a fraction of the fuel my old open fire used to use.

To give you an idea, my fuel costs for coal/wood from August 2011 to this March were approx £140, and that was all bought no free wood for me :) Also, my gas DD has been reduced from £120 to £40 although some of this is no doubt also down to a new condensing combi boiler as well.
