I know that my free standing stove generates almost as much heat from the top and sides, as it does from the front - especially with the Ecofan running as well.0 -

Partially, the stove has a convector chamber that is supposed to help disperse the heat out from the front. The sides and back have to be well insulated. I guess I miss out on a bit but not too much I hope. Couldn't really fit a free standing stove in unfortunately.0 -
