How can anyone do this :(

As a snake owner I'm horrified that somebody could & would do this. I was also under the impression feeding live was illegal in this country. I am, however, upset that the Scum have entitled the snake as being "vicious" when it was behaving perfectly naturally. It cannot differentiate between food types and choose only morally acceptable ones!“You can please some of the people some of the time, all of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time, but you can never please all of the people all of the time.”0

mouse rabbit cat rat if your feeding it live food its going to get crushed...(it actually suffication)
i assume by your name your a cat lover...have you never seen a cat play with the mouse before killing.....A cat does not kill clean and does not kill only for food.
The difference being that I DO NOT BRING MICE INTO AN ENCLOSED ROOM WITH THE DELIBERATE INTENTION OF LETTING MY CATS KILL THEM. And I do not video it for sick pleasure and for others to view innocent animals being killed. And although they do catch the odd mouse or bird, there are many more that get away.
It is obvious we have far differing philosophies on this and I am no longer going to argue this further with you. Good day.0 -

I agree with you, the snake is blameless in this, it is the numbskull human who is at fault and who should be punished.0 -

i am not a snake expert but some snakes will just not eat dead food. Not illegal too feed live animals for food. However there are rules.
Snake has no (human)morals its food and its hungry.
As a snake owner may i ask even feeding dead food, does it matter if its a chicken, rat, fluffy bunny, mouse, kitten etc?. I would assume as a snake owner your only concern is quality of food and humane dispatch. (what you would not feed them is a personel moral choice) eg there is no reason a snake cannot eat a humanly dispatched kitten.
Many snake owners breed there own food for there snakes. i would like to bet not all are killed before giving to the snake even if the snake does eat dead food.0 -

thats a bunny
Some snakes only eat live food. Why does a cat have more rights than a rat, mouse or a rabbit.
Its because the sicko thought it would be great fun to film..
and put out over the net, if this snake only ate kittens, why on earth was he playing around with it in a christmas hat0 -

It's a very grey area. I was confusing the actual selling of live animals as reptile food being illegal rather than feeding live as yes you're right, some (usually wild caught snakes) will only feed live. As to what snakes actually eat, this particular one would most likely be fed on (hopefully dead) rabbits although the fact it so quickly took the kitten makes me wonder whether its frequently fed live prey
Some snakes (difficult feeders) may also be fed on hamsters/gerbils in place of mice/rats too. All snake prey are kept by people as pets so what differentiates those from a kitten? Interesting question. I still find this particular story horrific though!“You can please some of the people some of the time, all of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time, but you can never please all of the people all of the time.”0 -

Thats fine your cat can hunt. it does not need to hunt however, as you feed it.
The snake can't hunt. It needs too eat. The way the snake dispatched that kitten was more humane than the way your cat dispatches a mouse for fun.
I agree the vid was shot for sick pleasure, however thats all that is wrong with it. And thats a moral issue not a cruelty one.
Another way of thinking about it is you let your cat out too torment and kill rodents you are fully aware your cat does this. IS THAT A CRUELTY ISSUE?
The snake and the kitten and the cat and the mouse is no different. If anything you compassion and understanding should be with the snake.0 -

i also find it distastfull....However it really gets on my goat people getting up in arms cause its a kitten instead of a rodent.
i don't really like cats.(bad experience as a child) However i find the vid of the rabbit more distasteful. But thats an emotional issue. It is irrelevant what the animal is.
Watch the 2 vids side by side. There is no difference other than the effection shown by the owner too the kitten.
Here lies the problem we feel more emotion towards "domesticated animals" or what is seen as domesticated animals.
I think the only way this guy is going to get prosecuted is if they can prove the animal was fed too the snake for self gratification.0 -
mmm SADISTIC mmmm maybe only too you the viewer...kitten was happy...snake was happy...(the kitten was not harmed in anyway from the owner)
Don't get me wrong snakes are horrible things.....however they need too eat.
Would you like me to define the word 'sadistic' for you?
1. The deriving of sexual gratification or the tendency to derive sexual gratification from inflicting pain or emotional abuse on others.
2. The deriving of pleasure, or the tendency to derive pleasure, from cruelty.
3. Extreme cruelty.
The sicko played with the kitten, dressed it up and not only watched the innocent kitten being crushed alive and eaten but also recorded it and uploaded the video online! Now if that is not sadistic, tell me what is.
No one on here said it was more wrong to feed a snake a kitten than it is to feed it mice, rats etc. For all I hate mice and rats I would never harm one or put ones life at risk and watch it die for the fun of it. The kitten was not bred for food like alot of mice and rats are. The vile man put the kitten in danger, it suffered and had no way to escape like it would if it was out in the wild. Yes snakes need to eat but this was a sick way of feeding a snake and in my eyes this man needs professional help.A home without a dog is like a flower without petals.0 -

I've just watched the rabbit video you posted and find it equally distasteful particularly as the poor rabbit was still alive at the end of the 3min video clip
