I didn't think you were allowed to feed live animals (vertebrae) to another animal in the UK?

There would not be as much an uproar if it was a mouse or a rat.

The snake was hungry or it would not feed.

I think it should be irrelevant what animal it is.
The circumstances and the reasons are a different mater.....A moral one at that

I think you are missing a very important point here. This was done in a sadistic manner, dressing the cat up and watching & recording it then posting the video online.
A home without a dog is like a flower without petals.

So have I... but I do see justjohn's point here that some snakes do eat their food live, and pythons catch and kill their food, and that people do feed live small animals to their pet snakes. It's considered acceptable to do this exact same thing to a live mouse, yet there's outrage if the same thing is done to a kitten.

Don't get me wrong, I think it's horrible, but sometimes you have to check your emotions and look at things objectively, particularly when it comes to dishing out the 'justice'.

But it's not just the fact that he fed a live kitten to a snake which in most people's books is abhorrent, he did it seemingly gleefully, taking it into the room in a santa hat with christmas music and he gave the kitten no chance of escape, even distracting it so the snake could pounce easier.

In the wild where snakes eat their food live, at least the prey has the chance of escape. Sadly, this poor kitten did not.

Yes I have done too, it seems to be a terribly grey area even on there!

NO not missing the point thats why i put "The circumstances and the reasons are a different mater.....A moral one at that "

i agree with you its how and why its done....not what it was in my book. Cat,Rabbit chicken, mouse, rat or in this case cute little kitten is irrelevant.

i will however add the snake got fed, the kitten was not put under stress by the owner. it was the snake that performed the kill. It was natural for the snake , the kitten was food. The problem is the humane person does not like to see this act/sacrifice. the kitten did not know what was happening until it was too late.

The manner in which the video was shot is unsavory not the action of the kill nor the feeding of the snake.

I fail to comprehend how anyone can describe a live kitten being crushed to death as "happy". Your mind must work in a different way to mine.

And there are many other ways of feeding a snake, instead of giving it a live kitten.
