I requested MAC on 7th Oct 2011, this was received within the 5 day rule. On 21/10/2011 my migration to BE was sorted. As I pay TalkTalk in advance and had paid for Oct, I cancelled the DD. On 7th Nov I receive a letter saying I owe them £25.52 overdue balance. I email customer services informing them of my migration, they reply with acceptance and my account will be credited accordingly.
Now today I receive another letter claiming I have a balance of £11.25. No idea what this balance is, no explanation or anything. I owe them nothing, if anything they owe me for the days I've paid and not received the service due to migrating. According to the letter my so called "debt" will be passed to a debt collection agency or there solicitors to commence legal action.

You pay in advance for your services and in arrears for your call costs, as you know.
When TT received notification from the gaining provider that your services were being transferred, that is when your notice period starts. Not sure if TalkTalks is 14 or 30 days.
Anyway, this is all assuming you also have line with them, if you don't disregard this please.
Potentially, your calls up until point of transfer and the notice period have been added to a final bill and thats probably what that is.
But, knowing TT, it could be anything! If it's BB on it's own you have, god only knows.0 -
I dont have calls with them, they only supplied me with Broadband.
I was with Freedom2Surf until they migrated to TalkTalk Business.
Oct bill was paid by DD on 4th Oct, this is for upto 31st Oct.
As I migrated on 21 Oct they should owe me for 10 days.0 -

I am almost identical situation ex F2S left TT 28-10-11 for BE .
Billed 25/10/11 and again 25/11/12.
I understand that i might be paying in arrears and might even have to pay a full month to finish rather than the balance of 20 days . Its just that continual payments to dead accounts is an ongoing problem with TT .

You pay in advance for BB, TT were also recently fined £3 million by Ofcom for similar things to this. I dont know what this £11.25 charge is, no breakdown or anything on the letter. It also says my service has been suspended for non payment, lol what service they aint been my provider since 21/10/2011, I'm happily getting 16mb from BE, quite a jump from the 2mb I was getting with TT.0

I tried to join the members forum, but I dont have a valid account no so it wont allow me to join. I'll take a look on twitter, dont know how to use it tho. I emailed Customer Services on 2nd Dec, no reply upto now. I also emailed Customer Services on 9th Nov when I received a £25.52 bill for Nov.
I received this email 10th Nov.
Your MAC Code was requested on 7th October 2011, as we require 30 days notice to cancel a service, your cancelation should of complete on 6th November 2011.
I can confirm your broadband is now cancelled, and I can see the charges have been backdated to the 30th October 2011. This credit will show on your next invoice on 17th November 2011.
If you have any further queries please do not hesitate to contact us.
Kind regards,

To then get a letter of you's in Dec saying I have not responded to previous letter (which I have email proof that I have) you are disconnecting me for non payment and threatening me with debt agencies and/or court if I do not pay £11.25 within 5 working days which I have no idea what that amount is for is a total and utter joke. What you gonna disconnect me from, I dont have a service from you?
As I paid for Oct, TT owe me from 21/10 to 31/10 which is 10 days so £8.23 they owe me.0 -
Have you tried calling their billing department? surely they will tell you over the phone what the charge is for?My Support is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind. While a knowledgeable and skilled professional, I cannot offer any guarantee as to the consequences of the Support provided. Should the Support cause damage or loss of any kind, I shall not be held liable.0

I aint got time to wait on the phone, thats time I dont get back in life. My time is precious, I aint wasting it on the phone.
Charge should be detailed in the letter, not a demand for payment within 5 days with no explanation at all.0 -

Get everything in writing and keep any emails you get and take the full name of anyone you speak to and keep a note of the date and time of the conversation.
We had a dispute with TT when we moved house recently and it was only when we insisted on speaking to a manager and it was passed further up the chain of command that anything was done.0 -

Yep, thats also the reason why I dont like to deal on the phone. Emails sent/received are regarded as a legal document by courts. I cant record the convo on the phone, but do print out all sent/received messages.
If I get no joy I'll contact there CEO dido.harding@talktalkplc.com then Otelo, Ofcom, Watchdog, Citizens Advice and Trading Standards. The letter I have received is disgracefull.0
