avast is so slow using up to 90% cpu usage and only done 25% in over an hour avg finished on my laptop finding nothing I find that the antivirus software out there causes more problems for my systems than the viruses themselves. In my experience is that most of people's problems are from being stupid when surfing. Use an alternative browser. Firefox and all it's great add ons. Use Gmail for spam filters. i know this work's for me and not everybodyBankrupt on the 19th feb 2007

Hi - Sorry if I've posted on the wrong thread, but I do hope somebody can help me.
I upgraded to AVG 8 a couple of months ago - all seemed fine, however I've now encountered problems - with updates!!!! - sometimes it doesn't update and then when it does it keeps asking me to restart the computer - is anyone else having similar probs???
Which free Anti-virus would you guys recommend?? THANKS FOR ANY HELP!X0 -

Others have been having some problems and I think there've been recent problems with the update server anyway. You could perservere or try Antivir or Avast. I've installed both on people's pcs and they seem quite adequate. (My personal PC I find it's worth paying for Eset Smart Security but each to their own)."She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"

I had AVG 7. Read all the complaints with AVG 8. 7 was beginning to irratate me, so I downloaded a 30 day free trial today from Eset Nod32 _ Internet/Anti virus.
Could someone advise me should I also run anything else with this one?
When I had AVG 7 I had most of the other freebies - crap cleaner, spybot, spyware destroyer etc

On my daughters vostro I run the following software;
Nod32 - the suite, although I run the anti virus on other laptops with the following;
Superantispyware - the free version is available here - http://www.superantispyware.com/superantispywarefreevspro.html
Spywareblaster - http://www.javacoolsoftware.com/sbdownload.html
Comodo firewall - http://www.personalfirewall.comodo.com/index-hireit.html0
