Have had to open my tin this morning as I couldnt get any more in there. Have counted out £140 in £2,£1 and 50p's so there will be a bit more than that in there. Will go and put it in the bank tomorrow then transfer into my new house savings account :j.

Will also go and get a new tin, but a bigger one this time.

15p in pot and 1p roadkill. First roadkill for ages - there's too many pensioners round here with better eyesight than me. Maybe they're potting them to :D

a massive £24.50 in the pot for me today, thats after a expensive night out with work which ended up costing me over £100, the £24.50 is all i had left in my wallet so ive potted it all.

My tin is getting heavier, im doing soooooo good not opening it already, i know im going to have a massive shock in december when it is opened.

Hi all, welcome to all my fellow newbies on this challenge. Managed to pot £10.16p today, 1p of which was roadkill. I still need to put money on my phone though, luckily I have loads of free texts to use up. I have taken advice from lots of you about using cash instead of plastic, I've hidden my DC and CC away and if I need any more money before payday, I'll just have to do without.
I'm a bit worried about the amount in my SP hanging about the house, DH & DD are nagging me, saying if we're burgled, it's all gone. Would it be alright to put it in a bank account every so often as long as I add it to my sig? I was thinking of maybe opening an ISA with it, if it's in the ordinary account, it will get used.
    TIA.

    Be Well.

As I understand it, ModestyB, it's perfectly alright to bank as you go along if it's better for you. An ISA would be perfect in my view...no tax on the interest and you might be less likely to draw it out on a whim... Go for it! :j

Oh, and thanks for the hug...a big hug back x

  • Hi everyone,

Is it ok if I join you all? I've always kept a pot of change that gets added to when i find money at the bottom of pockets or on the floor but I'd quite like to join your challenge and have a bit more incentive to do it and not take money back out again!

I filled my piggy bank last year so I think I'll empty that and bank the money - no idea how much is in there - and use it again this year - its not sealed but I usually have no idea where the key is so the money is fairly safe!

I'm not sure how good I'll be at remembering all the money I put in as it's usually bedtime! but I'll try my best and if I miss any then I'll get a nice surprise at the end of the year when it contains more than I think!! :D

  • Hiya, please can I join? I love this idea and going to use it in conjunction with my stopping smoking (every time I want a cigarette) and stopping my morning Costa. Excited! X
  • I have a question... on the front page it says money taken from wages can't count in the pot challenge. I take out £20 a week to spend on anything non essential I may buy in the week (though I try not to spend it at all) - can I include the leftover bit of that each week in my pot?
    Thanks

I would have thought that it was ok, I took the front page to mean not to purposly withdraw money to put straight into your tin ie take £10 of bank and out straight into pot. I may be wrong though, I'm new to this board.
