  • Out of the 15,000 finished auctions of Jade pendants that can been seen on Ebay only 5 have sold for more than £500.
What you have must be very rare if this is a genuine buyer who knows his stuff.

Yup,possibly only 5 genuine items and 14995 plastic Chinese fakes?

Ebay is a playground for the Chinese fakers.

He can insist all he wants but you are the one who need this insured and covered against loss so you need to find the postal service that will guarantee that.

Royal mail are almost certainly not going to get a signature on arrival- but you could still use them if they are happy that you pay for enough insurance cover and they know you are insuring jewellery. The other issue you may have if it is lost they may well only pay out the original cost to you.

A specialised courier is much more likely to get full tracking and the signature you need.

The only headache he will have if they go through customs is paying duty, so he wants you to enable his fiddle.

All shipping methods will mean he will have to potentially pay customs and duty when ti arrives- do not be tempted to undervalue the item though.

You must remain in control of your sale , you are th eone who needs all the protection here.

The way I see it, is that it's not about how many you post but just HOW you post.

The method you use is paramount.

I think that you're setting yourself up to be scammed.
If someone is paying a decent amount for items that they want to buy back as they see them as part of their country's heritage, then they would want to ensure their safety.
This buyer will know damn well that the postage method he's insisting on isn't the correct one for items of this value.
Do yourself a favour, go & draw out £2100 from your bank & post it down the nearest drain. That's what you're probably doing by selling to someone who's insisting on this postage.
It'll cut out the middle man & you'll still have your pieces of jade.
