Spend so far this week is £32.48. We had the roast beef dinner tonight, there is a bit left for sandwiches tomorrow. I'm planning on cooking the Jamie recipe tomorrow night.

The phone auction is finishing soon, very exciting! I'll be able to get it posted off tomorrow if they pay up quickly.

Off to scrounge the bank accounts for some overpayment fodder.

  • Good news: Sold the phone for £92! (will be £82.80 once ebay have taken their cut).

Bad news: the winner has paid by echeque through paypal. The email estimates 9-11th Jan for it to clear. Grr! I have emailed seller to advise I won't be posting until it clears.

That's a great sum, yay :j. Plus you get the excitement now of selling it, then the excitement next week when you get the payment through :T.
A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort
    :) Mortgage Balance = £0 :)

  • Thank you for the positive spin, GG, I suppose you're right. I was just dead excited about making a big overpayment...but delayed gratification is good for me- right?

We popped to B&M for some mealworms for the chickens and couldn't resist the bargains. Boo!

  • ... chickens...

Chickens! I didn't realise that you had chickens as well :D

    MWC (aka mad chicken lady)

PS How much do you pay for mealworms in B&M please? I pay 99p for a 100g bag in Home Bargains (I can't believe anybody would pay garden centre prices)

  • Hey MWC! We have 6 chickens- 2 white suffolks, 2 cream legbars and 2 copper black so we have a lovely coloured range of eggs! Have you seen the egg skelters? I got mine from Amazon as we were having trouble rotating stock. We got our chickens at the end of August and they took a few weeks to start laying as they were only young. They have the run of the garden at the moment (sh*t EVERYWHERE!) but we will have to fence off the bottom 1/3 for next summer as our little one will be wanting to play in the garden.

In B&M today there was a 400g tub for £4.99 so it sounds like Home Bargains is the better deal.

You can't beat a poached egg within half an hour of it being laid!

Edit: just read that. I meant there is nothing better than a poached fresh egg, not that you can't beat it, because of course you can.

  • I have 6 chickens at the moment too. All hybrids - 1 speckledy, 2 skylines, 1 magpie, 1 white star and 1 maran cuivre. We lost 2 this year :( (1 bluebelle and 1 skyline) but will be replacing with 3 at the end of the month :D - that's how chicken math works :rotfl:We started with 3 chickens 4.5 years ago and have 1 original girl still laying :T

The egg skelters are fab - I think that they're made by a lady on the Omlet forum (highly recommended BTW if you don't know about it already and need to know about anything chicken related)

    We're having an egg-based tea tonight :D

  • Just made the Jamie 15 min meal. Possibly one of the most stressful experiences of my life.
