  • For some reason, I just noticed that I have calculated my savings wrong by £300! I got mixed up as some is in my ISA and some is in my instant access savings. I have updated my MFW2012 total- oops!

  • Lovely new week, new budget and weigh in day!
By some freak of nature, I have managed to lose weight last week??? I'm pretty sure it will catch up with me next week. I'll try and go on a few long walks with Mini-MSE to make up for it, but this blasted weather doesn't help.

I have been on a soup-making mission yesterday and today. I should have been tidying away Christmas, but I can never find enthusiasm for the task I am supposed to be doing. The carrot, lentil and ginger from yesterday was lovely. Today I have made carrot and coriander and am currently making sweet potato.

Tesco delivery arrived, with no substitutions, and the grand total was £27.57. I'll add that to this week's table:

    Mon: £27.57

    Soup sounds delish!

And sorry but I have to ask, how do you have a £62 OP for 2014 already?

Happy New Year for when it comes!

It's a very silly mind-trick I play on myself as I tried working with bigger savings targets and got demotivated (I like regular gratification!).

So my original monthly target for finding extra cash by using MSE-ways was £105. As you can see, this has been more than achievable and consequently I am 12 months ahead of myself. It's good in a way as I'm on maternity leave until August so won't be able to save as much.
My yearly target was £3060 which includes a standing order. I'm ahead of my yearly goal by about 6 months thanks to my MSE savings so that has bought me some breathing space in case we need to stop the standing order.

  • Happy new year! (Slightly premature as we're probably heading off to bed soon)

    Aims for 2013:

    Stay off work until August

    Save £3060 for overpayments

Spend no more than £10 a day on groceries

Finish quilt that I am making for Mini-MSE. Have made the topper, just need to sew back on.

    Sort pensions out.

    Complete online Excel course

Get up to date with professional development records.

My new years resolution is to stop putting things off.

I hope 2013 finds you and your family happy and healthy.

I popped to the shop to get some more onions as my soup making exploits have depleted the stores!

We went for a lovely long walk as the weather was nice, and also earned me 8 activity points. It was lovely to see so many people out and about. We have a reservoir within walking distance that is a really nice walk. All the way round takes just over an hour, but the paths were so muddy the other day that we just stuck to the concrete route and turned round half way.

I'm making Nigella's quick lasagne from her new Nigelissima book. It's very rich so shouldn't need much for a portion. Just as well seeing as a quarter of it would be 28.5 propoints!! It means it will stretch a long way, so will give some to FIL and maybe freeze a couple of portions as well for DH work lunches. It's bubbling away in the oven now and will be ready at about 5:45pm mmmm.

The phone is doing really well. It's at £90! Can't believe how well it's going, and still a day to go. The retail price is about £118 so I can't imagine it will go much higher, as there is £5 postage.

Adpoints still not great, I'm getting bored of keep logging in just to get 0 points available.

Just updated MFW2013 with my £150 standing order overpayment. It probably won't move over until tomorrow but I thought I'd get it posted as a good start to the new year!

Quidco updated me with the progress of my £50 from Supercasino. Still no sign, but they're reassuring me that they're still working on it. Sigh!

EDIT 19:00: Not that impressed with the lasagne, it was pretty bland. How disappointing!

Pop round here hon, I bought 5kg yesterday. Why confused-face-smiley-emoticon.gif. I'm on my own most of the week, going on holiday in 3 weeks and am on a diet so no onion bhajees or caramelised onions :o.

  • Oooh, I'll take 3kg off you on the condition that you chop them all up ready for me as I'm rubbish at chopping onions and it's a miracle that I've still got all 10 of my digits.

  • The batch cooking, soup making and organisation has paid off! My sister, niece and nephew came today and I was able to offer them a variety of options for lunch! Me and sis had soup, niece had some of yesterday's lasagne and nephew had pasta.

    It's another miserable day weather-wise.
