wow that is awesome! did you find it easy to spend on the Amex or did some places not accept it? Ooh and I didn't know there was a nectar app - off to investigate thank you :)
  • Hi Anmonite, bit of a late night for you?

We always put all of our spends onto a credit card to get maximum pointage. The £1k was boosted by petrol, food shopping, concert tickets and eating out. We had 3 months to do it, but luckily the concert tickets helped boost it for us. You're right, not everywhere accepts Amex, so we would have probably reached the £1k sooner.

Lots of bargains in Sainsburys today, everything I wanted was on offer! Spent £80 which is unheard of for us but that included nappies on 3for 2, some meat, milk for a week and laundry stuff half price.

The interview was very intense, I think my presentation went well but the actual interview was horrid! It was very good experience though if nothing else. I'm certainly not holding my breath! It's for the best as it would have posed several difficult dilemmas regarding when to finish maternity leave.

  • £30 quidco money has been paid and transferred.

I bought 4 bottles of squash yesterday to get some money off vouchers for petrol. We get through a load of squash, so it can go on the stockpile and get used eventually.

I didn't get the job, but I got some good feedback to help me next time, and I think I represented myself well. :)

Mini MSE is very sleepy as she had her second lot of jabs yesterday :(

Not a lot else to report, have a good weekend, everyone!

lol - lots of late nights for me lately...and early mornings too, must be trying to get ready for being woken up all night !

Well done for your interview feedback. Its always good to get good feedback but frustrating not to get it when they can't really offer too much for you to improve!

Aww poor mini-MSE! Hope she feels less sleepy soon :)
  • Hi there, just read your thread by searching nectar 10000 pts. great to see it only took just over a week for the points to be awarded. i have busted the £1000 mark on my card too and am hoping to get the points soon.

I am enjoying reading your thread and you are doing so well in your quest to become mortgage free. I have been doing this for some time now but not blogging it. I will follow with interest. i might even start keeping an online track of my my progress.

I only started nectar 3 months ago but will hopefully have 18000-20000 by year end. Thats £100 towards food shopping and transfer 100 to mortgage account.

    good luck
  • I would recommend putting it in stocks/mutual funds, but I'd consider picking up another property the way the market is. Maybe pick up a cheaper one and place the remaining in stocks?
  • Thank you for dropping by, PyeMcKay, I definitely recommend a diary to keep your quest to the forefront of your mind. It's amazing how all of the little bits add up, we have managed to put aside about £4k this year without missing it, just from living an MSE lifestyle and putting the money we would have spent towards the overpayments. Scares me that this means we have probably wasted £4k every year before now.

Nihall erm thanks for the advice??? I'm guessing you meant to comment on another post ;)

  • My DH did well at the horse racing last night, not strictly MSE, but he came home with £200! It was a works trip and he had done his homework. So we went out for lunch today and I have transferred £100 to the house maintenance fund and £75 to the overpayments account.

Other activity- I have received a refund for some more dodgy vouchers from ebay (notice a theme here?). I also transferred over my MOC money that has been accumulating over the last few weeks.

So I am now nearly at the end of Nov 2013's MSE money target, and 30% of next years overpayment target already! Sig updated and weigh in day tomorrow :(

  • A couple of coupon exploits- I used my two 10p off a litre coupons to get £9.60 off a tank- not bad!
I had £2.50 worth if gardening club vouchers to use before the end of the month. I got two little presents for my friend's little ones. They have these cool little letter choccys that you buy the holder for so can make personalised presents for unusual names!

How did your weigh in go MFB50?

You are doing well with your vouchers - good that eBay are refunding the dodgy ones too.
