Can't you forward the email on to them?

I did think of that but the email from Tesco just comes as a "log into your account to see your messages" type so I would have to give Direct Line my log-in details.

I suppose I could do that if they would accept it.

why not ask them if they can do a 3 way call to tesco?
Don't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.

Direct Line are notorious for this with paperwork.

If you do have to cancel, ask them where it says in their t&c's that original electronic copies are not acceptable, if they try to charge you a cancellation fee, or anything other than a strictly pro rata for time on cover.
Refer them to the FOS if they still argue about the costs, and make sure you put in a claim of about £10 for each letter you have written to them when you put in the complaint.

How on earth do Direct Line think that Tesco generate hard copies of letters???

From laser prints of PDFs of course!!

Tesco were more than happy to send my son proof of his NCD when he changed insurer this year.

Tesco say they're more than happy to send me mine. They just don't seem to be able to do it.

This is what their T&C's say. No mention of not accepting pdfs

If it were me I would be contacting financial journalists like ... ooo what's his name... goes on Jeremy Vine (Radio 2) on a Friday...well anyway him and Paul Lewis (Radio 4 Moneybox) because, as has been said, more and more of these insurance companies are giving us online storage of documents and expecting us all to go 'paperless' and this needs sorting - urgently for you OP but ultimately for ALL of us!

I may well do that once my immediate problem is sorted out.

You might well find that they start making a few phone calls on your behalf, actually. Paul Lewis often takes up individual cases which then get reported on Moneybox - especially when they have far-reaching consequences. This is bound to impact on other drivers; so might be worth a quick e mail to the beeb.;)
