Avoid the Orange Price Increase

I signed up for my contract (24 month) in April 2011.
Firstly, the product name has the price included in big letters, small print should not take away big print.
How can they decide what is or is not materially detrimental to me?
Inflation on the 1st anniversary will likely be 3% or less, significantly reducing their justification in my case.
Do call and complain and pursue it all the way through the escalation process, it does not take much time or effort, but costs Orange money. If enough people call and complain (£3.50 cost to Orange each time you speak to one of their operators) the cost of the rise in complaints will make it uneconomic to continue with it.
I have been with Orange for many years and any changes to tariffs have always taken place when renewing, this is something they have never done before and if there is not a big number of complaints you can bet they will do it every year. Only next time the justification is easier - 'we have done it before and you did not complain so you knew it would happen again.'. Remember each month they renew many many thousands of contracts and often through 'disconnections' improve their offering by more than 4.34% in value. They just believe they can get away with it at this time.
They do not know their margins for 2010 and 2011 when I have asked then, if they do not know how can they say they need to increase prices?
Complain and keep complaining and they will eventually get the message.
In case you are wondering, 3 phone calls and 1 letter, the extra revenue Orange want to get out of me has almost been consumed for the balance of the contract already and now my mind if to call and complain about any and every little thing.0 -
Industry regulator Ofcom has said it will not investigate Orange’s controversial pay monthly price hike as it is ‘not likely’ to breach legislation.
The regulatory authority had been contemplating an investigation into the operator after Orange announced in November that it was increasing its pay monthly contract prices by 4.3% from 8 January 2012.0
