This has to be wrong. I signed a contract 6 weeks ago for a two year term. They have now increased the price within the RPI.....but that is measured over a one year period. They have had the information at the time of running their advertising campaign and surely should have adjusted the prices then.

May just be willimg to block the DD and let them try and take action!
  • Thank allybee. Appreciated. Agreed remove it from future contracts but also it is unenforceable in the current contracts as against UCTA.

    The country needs you Martin!

Doesn't Unfair terms in contracts say that any agreements need to be discussed by both parties (to avoid companies slipping in unfair terms) and each part should be granted equivalent rights by the term. i.e. If there was deflation you could reduce your payments according.

You are not affected. Assuming that 6 weeks ago means that you agreed a contract in the last couple of weeks of October, they have said that the increase only applies to people who signed up for contracts before September this year. If you block the DD then they will trash your credit record within a couple of months
  • Is it true that if ou work for the local authority or NHS you can get a discount?

I believe so - try searching.
  • Come on everyone, what are you whinging about?
You are all getting very upset about £1 a month on your Orange mobile phone bill.
Do you not realise what has happened here?
The incompetence of Gordon Brown and the collusion (or perhaps bullying) of the bank of england MPC has, along with many other problems caused, pushed the Consumer Price Index (the "true" measure of inflation) up to 4.5 percent. Who cares about £12 a year on your mobile bill! The vast majority of people have not had a pay rise for at least 12 months. so assuming the average salary is £25,000 a year (big assumption I know) just to keep up with the inflation that Gordon Brown caused would need a pay rise of £1125, or roughly £100 a month.
Stop whining about the insignificant and start looking at the bigger picture. And next time you want to have a bit of a moan about the austerity measures being put in place now, just think about what state you're personal finances would be in if you spent more than you earned for the last fifteen years!!

Oh what a load of crap, many people at the moment have lost their jobs. I think most of the employed have not received a pay rise in line of inflation so your pay check dosn't go as far during the week and yet for some reason Orange decide to increase your monthly bills mid way through a contract. We're getting squeezed by both sides.

And if Orange and T-mobile are now owned by EE then why haven't T-mobile had to do the same thing? Me thinks that EE are trying enact their plan of making Orange the 'high end' mobile network and leave T-mobile as the budget network.

Did yours also say it would be offset for 6 months by a special discount?

If someone has lost their job or income has significantly dropped then I have sympathy for them.

Everyone else needs to re-evaluate their priorities in life if the cost of their mobile is so high relative to their income that this increase has significant impact.
