Avoid the Orange Price Increase

It's not about the cost of the change- for me it's about 40p a month on Dolphin 15- it's about the principle of it.

I have no problem with Orange increasing their prices to whatever they want on renewal. If they don't want my business they could turn it into Dolphin 150 if they wanted, that's fine. They have a commercial choice in keeping my business and I have a commercial choice in keeping my business with them.

What annoys me is how they are increasing their prices for people tied into contacts. As far as I'm concerned, if they want people on a 24-month contract then they should price the contract accordingly. I can't change my mind so why the hell should they be able to? I didn't see Orange reducing bills when there was deflation two years ago, after all.

I haven't decided what to do about this. I'm angry- very very angry- but knowing the knuckleheaded liars that work in Orange customer services I'm not sure I can be doing with the battle for the sake of a fiver. We shall see.

I think the problem is they will tie you up in knots for changing your contract.

No they won't. Changing your talkplan does not mean changing your contract. At all.

Depends what you want to do battle about. Switch on to a current dolphin 15 and avoid the price increase, no battle needed there.

Ring up and try and argue with the "Customer Service Knucklehead Liars" about the "principle" of the price increase and you will be in for a battle you cannot win.

The decision has been made, move on with your life. Or don't and get very very angry about something so petty as 40p. up to you I guess, but I know which I would choose.

The current dolphin 15 has already been uplifted, so there's no avoiding the price increase.

It's just theft. Not that I imagine EE will give a stuff that I won't be renewing with them.

  • My Racoon 25 contract costs me £15 a month, I get 600 minutes, 800 texts, unlimited landline calls and free internet. I have built up alot of these free add ons from years of loyalty bonuses. My contract ends in a few days, so I phoned Orange to renew my contract, which they do every year. They say the best they can do is £25 for the same package, but with none of my free add ons, thats less minutes and texts and no internet, they will however give me a 10% loyalty bonus off the £25.
So, in effect I'm paying £7.50 for a package thats about half of what I was getting. I don't think Daft Punk has much of an idea what he's on about. Orange has really shot themselves in the foot here I think. My wife and four friends have left Orange in the last month, I'm off too, as soon as I decide on a package from someone else.

My OH got this text on monday,he called them yesterday having only renewed his contract less than 4 months ago.he was paying £30 a month for 600mins,unlimited text and 250mb of internet.he had a bit of a go at them about it said it was a contract he had so how could they increase it and that if at any time he wanted to change his contract as in lowering the plan before time was up they wouldnt allow it as it was a contract he had entered in to but think its ok to increase it.so they have assured him it will not increase for him and they have given him extra internet 750mb and knocked the price of his contract down to £26,definetly pays to complain.i am also on his contract and recently upgraded, mine will also stay as it is

You've been moved to a new plan that already has the increase built in.
I spent 25 years in the mobile industry, from 1994 to 2019. Worked for indies as well as the big networks, in their stores also in contact centres. I also hold a degree in telecoms engineering so I like to think I know what I’m talking about 😂
  • I think these talk plans seem expensive. I pay just £10 a month to GiffGaff and get 250 Xnework minutes, unlimited calls to others on GiffGaff, Unlimited Texts and Unlimited Data.

Not only that a lot of you seem saddled with Orange for nearly 2 years lol

Got the text last night and im confused on where i stand because i never signed a contract.

I got my phone in April 2010 from my local orange shop and the only thing i signed, which i have in front of me is called "Online Registration System - Customer Information Form" which i've read through and found nothing.

Ive just called Orange and explained that i've never signed a contract, only the above form and was told it was my responsibility to go home and check the T&C's online and cancel within 7 days if i wasn't happy. So i told him while i could understand that if i'd purchased my phone online but i didn't and as such surely you cannot expect a customer who may or may not have internet access to commit to something they may not even be able to access for which he had no reply.

I also pointed out that this is now the 3rd time i've been let down with Orange. The first being that i was told by the sales person in store that on the then new 24 month contracts i could upgrade my phone after the 1st year but when i tried i was told that wasn't true.
The second being that i was also told by the sales guy that my account usage would be monitored and every 6 months i would be contacted to discuss up or downgrading but when i called CS after 12 months they said it didn't apply to my package.

Needless to say i'm not very happy. My contract runs out in 3 months and i certainly won't be going back! I asked to speak to a manager to which he first refused, stating managers were not speaking to customers regarding the price increase to which i replied; "I don't think you can refuse my request to speak to a manager" so he said he'd ask one to call me back within 24 hours. I won't hold my breath!!

You and I are in almost the same boat. Same month joined etc.
Regarding calling to speak with a manager, if you want to, and think it may help you, then wait until after 24 hours have passed and call back, saying you wish to speak to a manager regarding a previous call to one of his/her colleagues. You do not have to go into detail so don't have to mention the price increase. Essentially, what you are now complaining about is that someone there said you would be called back and that call has failed to materialise. Once you have got the manager, and you must insist on it, you can then go into more detail.
However, I very much doubt you will get any further joy, and would just go ahead with your plan to leave.
