Somehow that bit does not ring true, the CS rep can only tell you about what is current today and what is available from them not other networks.
well that is what the agent said - yes it is slanderous of them and maybe it is stupid of them - but is the basis of their defense. Ring them yourself if you don't believe me.
When he said about BT going up I informed him I it can't effect me as bought the 12 month line rental upfront0 -
A Customer Service Advisor will sometimes say anything to get you to stop having a go at them on the phone, however nicely you did it. That does not mean that is how Orange are justifying the price rise.
Orange are in no way justifying this by saying the others have done it so we are doing it.
The official line is that prices are going up because of inflation and the RPI index and for no other reason.0 -
It is the only company that said they re-wrote contracts in April then clasp to "you didn't read contract in Nov2010 small print did you?"
"The mobile phone industry have bred this attitude into the British" and this is the customers fault?
I think you might be getting a bit confused because it has always stated in the T's & C's of your contract that there is a possibility that prices could increase in line with inflation. They didn't rewrite the contracts after April. What they did do was bring out new tariffs after April that are already in line with inflation and will not be affected by the price rise in January.0 -

so you want to go a listen to some of the CS recordings. In fact the other companies are free to listen to my CS conversation. With them naming BT. What will happen - "staff wasn't train slap on wrist" whatever.
They said "we are taking a high stance and telling you - those other companies are not telling their customers"
I'm afraid you were not there - please don't call me a liar - thanks0 -
and Daft_Punk - is the additional £4.50 worth upsetting someone paying them ~£800+0

Well I just looked at dads Racoon £15 plan 50 mins & texts and guess what ? he cant move to the newer plan as Racoon is the same as it was pre April - this will not help everyone.SO... now England its the Scots turn to say dont leave the UK, stay in Europe with us in the UK, dont let the tories fool you like they did us with empty lies... You will be leaving the UK aswell as Europe0

Mobile phone companies are the ones who over the last few years have pushed for longer term contracts. previously most contracts were 12 months now most are 24 months plus.
The contracts are highlighted and pushed onto customers in mobile shops or online mobile companies example Morphin 25 etc costing £25 / month for 24 months so the customer believes the cost is for the full length of the contract.
If the mobile companies wish to increase prices on an annual basis then they should go back selling shorter term contracts where the price can be guaranteed for the whole contract term.0 -

I don't need to listen to your conversations. I believe you were told that. I in no way called you a liar.
What I am saying is that the advisor made a mistake. Read the Orange press release in the main price rise thread. The Orange management are saying that the reason for the rise is inflation.
To explain why you were told that is quite simple. Orange have told their staff that previously Vodafone have increased their prices more than Orange. I don't know if O2 and BT have increased their prices but maybe the advisor you spoke to was told this by someone they knew and is also using that reason to explain to why the prices are going up. But the advisor wasn't told to say that by the Orange management.0 -

Yeah your right, switching on to the current tariffs is not gonna solve the price rise problem for everyone. People on Racoon plans are probably better off staying where they are. So are people who are on an old web tariff that comes with a built in discount as you would lose the discount if you moved to a current tariff.
So for everyone reading this thread, please don't take my word as gospel and double check with Orange if it is worth your while to switch to a new tariff or to stay on your current one.0 -
