I have spent part of the afternoon playing games on Facebook - erm, I have been spending my time wisely and looking for a job. I may well have found one at the local college which means a 4 minute walk to work:D I will be applying for it as the starting salary is nearly £19K and I have all the relevant experience and then some - 12 years working at one of the country's top universities has to count for something:D

I have acknowledged the mental health problem and am taking steps to rectify it and feel sure that once I have a secure job then that may well disappear.

I will get rid of stuff that I don't have a sentimental attachment to - although my mum has told me to sell my grandma's furniture well there is no way on this earth that I will ever do that - grief if I did that I would be ex-communicated:eek:

I have been reading my travel journal recently - mainly about my trip in 2003 to Oz (what happened to the confident, happy person I was then?). Anyway, I thought I would share a recipe with you that was given to me by Faye Biddle of Avalanche Homestead (a wonderful ranch that you can holiday at but I was there for the day). I have called the recipe Avalanche Homestead Passionfruit & Coconut Tart

1 cup coconut (can use dessicated)
3/4 (three quarters) cup caster sugar
    1/2 (half) cup plain flour
    4 eggs
    4oz melted butter
    squeeze of lemon juice
3 or 4 passionfruit depending on size

Mix all ingredients together (scoop out the flesh/seeds from the passionfruits - discard the skins) bake in the oven at 350/375 degrees until it looks done - this can be served warm or cold. It tasted divine which is why I asked for the recipe, I was expecting to have better instructions but Faye assured me that it was dead easy and she didn't believe in making life difficult for herself because she had a ranch to run and meals to cook for family, workers and any visitors.

The only things you will need to buy are the passionfruit as the other things are store cupboard items.

Yep answering the call - I can be on the other side tomorrow:D

Just remembered I need to fill in the noise diary that I received today - so far the twits upstairs have been really noisy and I am sure they do it deliberately:mad:

I have some instructions for knitting a woolly hat if folks want them - it can make a pull on hat for children or adults, the instructions are in my hard times book (the best AUS$3 I ever spent!)

Evening all - blimey you can seriousy talk, am not going to miss a day from now on as takes too long to catch up with you all!

Wow at MG - do we have to pay to talk to you now (or is that secretly the next step?). And keep going at it Horace you are so positive it will work out.

Here life plods on ok, windy, ds poorly with bad tummy etc, but am keeping up to date with work having announced to dh that it has to be this year's major priority. So far this week have managed to get kids clothes, bags, lunches all ready the night before school which is shockingly organised and have even had comments from 3 members of staff about how organised I seem to be atm - long may it last:T

In my never ending attempt to avoid housework I have managed to mind map another work paper, so I think I now deserve and early night, with a little pottering on the way to prevent the current state of relative civilisation from deteriorating!

    Good evening Matrix!

What exciting news MG! Loved the articles and am on the edge of my seat waiting to hear about further developments! Would love to help out on other side, but unfortunately, I can't seem to get onto it on the home computer. Of course, all websites are out for me at work... so... I think I might need MrF's assistance to get me logged back in again on this computer.

So, two days into the New Year at work and so far, work life balance has been achieved! Went swimming on Tuesday morning and went to the gym this morning. Have been doing just my contracted hours and then high tailing it out of there as soon as possible. Last night I came home and de-Christmassed the house, and then tonight I just came home and rested. I am feeling really tired, so I shall take the cue and go to bed after posting this!

One of my resolutions this year is that i do something creative for at least one hour each day. So, last night I did a bit of knitting... and then went upstairs to see whether I had materials to do a mosaic house number. I made the one which is on the wall outside the house when we moved in, but the weather of 9 long years has taken its toll, so I decided to do a new one. Imagine my surprise when I went through my crafty stash (which is probably the crafting version of MG's Armageddon Cupboard!) and I found everything I needed. A piece of wood, mosaic tiles, mosaic glue and grout. I made a start on it last night! :D

Right... lots of love to all of you. Thanks for the PMs and the support, and I will try and check in every night. Not always possible at the moment though... got counsellor tomorrow night, and then on Friday night I have a choir practice for a new choir I have been asked to sing with. :) Very exciting...!

well done to you for sticking to your hours at work. And the swimming and gym.

    Well done Crickett! :T:T:T

You are only paid to do your contracted hours and so long as you don't abuse that, no one can criticize you for what you do. It took me a long while to work that out.

I hope the extra time pays off for you.
But how can you know what you want till you get what you want and you see if you like it?
  • Horace, thank you for that recipe, it sounds lovely, and since I have a big bag of coconut waiting to be used I think I will go and buy some passionfruit.
Well I am trying to draw breath today after yesterday's storm. I think we were in the eye of the storm here as we lost the garage doors, the kitchen window and some slates from the roof. Quite a drama at the time, but everyone is safe and well apart from a few cuts from the broken glass flying about. Never been so scared in all my life, and was in shock for a bit afterwards when I think how much worse it could have been, but that was yesterday.

Today I read of MG's achievement (scurried of to find the paper I had no time to look at yesterday) - Congratulations, your boys are gorgeous in the photo!
Cricket - Well done on trying to get some balance into your life, and I love the sound of the mosaic house number
