Ooh - just discovered that the programme will be on I-player tomorrow.
A quote that came in:
"At last a woman who's first reaction to adversity isn't to hold her hand out - but to hold her head up" ...I love that!!!

MG I have just been listening to you on Radio Ulster.
Well Done.
Had a friend here who is in alot of debt, and just listening to you has made her feel better.
She has gone home now armed with tips she wrote while you were talking.
So just want to say Thank you.

Horace slinks in sheepishly...
Have read loads via my mobile phone but today is the first day of logging on since Crimble. I made some decisions which involve my watch and other stuff that can be sold at auction - I am taking my watch to various jewellers in Bham tomorrow so see if they will be willing to buy it especially as it has all its papers. Needs must because I have just had a £447.76 tax bill land on my doormat for tax that it seems I owe from 07/08. Tried ringing the beggars today but had to listen to about 10 mins of press this ruddy button and then that one and listen to a diatribe before being put on hold for a further 15 mins (I gave up holding on in the end).
Those of you that have read my diary will know that I had some devastating news on Christmas Eve which has since resulted in me getting ezcema on my face, neck and legs as well as a massive flare up of uveitis all caused by stress:( Yesterday I had a phone call from Healthy Minds as I had been referred to them by my GP - their solution was to offer me counselling over the internet which I refused (surely the point of counselling is to speak to someone face to face?) and then I was offered Healthy Training which will help with my diet and my emotional state by getting me out of the house which I have accepted and now I am awaiting an assessment, I have also been referred to Mitre Employment who help people with mental illness find work. My confidence has taken a huge battering and even the sarky comments from my parents hit home on Sunday.
I have been dipping into my Hard Times Handbook too (a book picked up from a charity shop out in the bush near Canberra) and have some recipes for meatloaf etc as well as tips on making a rag rug and other moneysaving ideas.
Yesterday I made a beef stew in the slowcooker using half the pack of beef bought for £2.99 from my butcher and half of the dodgy veg soup that I made using a cheap bag of carrot, swede and spud - the soup was vile as a soup but with the addition of meat and other goodies turned into a lovely stew. One portion eaten - two in the freezer, today I am cooking up the rest of the 'soup' with more additions and 4 defrosted sausages.
Off to start my listing for Music Magpie - what will they give me for DVDs and CDs (I have 16 copies of the same CD by a band I managed for a short while until I realised they were not serious and were in fact time wasters:mad:).0 -
Aw Kimsmum - I hope you can help her get everything in order - or suggest she drops in here so we can support her too.
I'd forgotten you were based over there - and I did feel a bit "OMG!!!" after listening to the very depressed gentleman on before me. My "Do whatever it takes" is probably NOT the message he is in a position to hear at the moment.
Ran out to get the boys - and came back to a couple more calls from journalists after "The Mirror/Record" thing yesterday. Bit of a flurry to start the New Year
