Do these cakes actually taste nice, because the posters pictures look impressive

I don't wanna spend £5 for a cake that doesn't taste that nice

    *Ahem*

We had a tiny slice...for quality control purposes you understand....now only half the cake left :o Glad I got a 2nd one ...gonna have to make v. 11 tomorrow. The taste is very good....moist and rich, love the odd crunch of chopped almond. Think will cook for 4hrs though this time instead of 4 1/2 as just a teensy bit 'crusty'....probably would soften if kept a bit tho....(as if!).

    Can thoroughly recommend :T

Oh what a plonker I am!!!!!!
Mixing up with cake and added the icing sugar instead of flour !!!!!!
Then realised my mistake but too late, so carried on and added the flour and will have to see what will happens.
    Its now in the oven.
Do you reckon I should bin it ?

    Oops!

It'll be very sweet, but I'd try a little bit once it's cooled. It might not be too bad.

Not as much of a plonker as me...read the oven temp wrongly yesterday and we ended up with a canonball lmao

We have a small, cupcake sized cake salvaged from the middle of it :p I felt so guilty I picked up another for DD this morning and that one has just come out of the oven perfectly.

I was going to buy the extra marzipan and icing as recommended yesterday so I've now got enough to fully ice one and hopefully I've got a little icing in the cupboard to do the unintentional cupcake.
    :o

Indpendently, three Scout Mums bragged about this cake yesterday. :D
One has made 3 already & is contemplating buying many more as her extended family adore them & keep asking her to bring her fruit cake over. As she said, her husband is beginning to loose his sense of humour about the name, but loves the cake.
The other two mums are also easily onto their second cakes - "just testing" having worked so well...
Guess I'd better buy & try myself! :)
