Re baking tins: Try Morrisons or Tesco. I got a round tin from Morrisons a few weeks back and very good price. Or could you aks any friends or neighbours if they have one you could borrow? That would eb the cheaper option :D

If she's just doing the top of the cake tommorrow will be fine.

If your goona buy extra marzipan and icing to do the sides too, then marzipan tommorrow and ice the following day. YES it will be fine till xmas.

My nan & grandad had a 25th wedding anniversary cake and the top tier was saved, we ate it a few years later, was lush. The slchohol acts as a preservative, - never see mouldy vokda do you!!!

marzipan and ice the side is probably a step too far for us basics lol. Just the top will do :D

    Thank you!

    Thank you!

I found it easier to marzipan the whole cake, just roll it out, throw it over, sort of smooth it out, doesn't have to be perfect, trim round the bottom, if theres a gap just stuff a bit of marzipan in it, your covering it in icing, no ones gonna see how messy it is.

Then do the sides the same way as the top, again doesn't have to be perfect.

And it will make the cake keep for longer, as it will be sealed in.
:TIs thankful to those who have shared their :T

I managed to get hold of one of the christmas cake bags last week. Having made it last night, Im well chuffed! I didnt know there was also a cupcake option. Ive managed to find the ingredient list online, and having got most of the stuff on there, I think I'll be having a (DIY) go at making these too!

Do these cakes actually taste nice, because the posters pictures look impressive

I don't wanna spend £5 for a cake that doesn't taste that nice
