my mum has her cupcakes to make to take to her pain clinic day at the hospital next week, she usually makes mince pies but thought these looked scrummy instead, so she bought some edible iced cupcake toppers from ebay for £2 for 24 and a cupcake stand from ebay for £4.99 which holds 23 cakes, so it will all look very special...she said her specialist has a sweet tooth...!!!! and there are about a dozen people in her group there, so a really nice party gift from her....

Wow Sloe Gin is that home made that is my favourite not like the Gordons rubbish, now that would make my christmas don't drink it all at once, my Aunt use to put it in the ground for years and we used to find it and drink it, those were the days

Well! I thought I knew all about making Sloe Gin but never heard of putting it in the ground before....mebbe it would stop us drinking it too soon tho :o:p:D

I'm currently educating my 14 year old daughter at home as she's been banned from school until her knee heals (long story, Health and Safety!) so todays lesson was Home Economics.
I picked up the £5 cake in Tesco Meir Park and she's spent the morning happily cooking away. The house smells fantastic!

Have to ask though ladies, being 14 and impatient she wants to marzipan and decorate tomorrow! If she does this will the cake still be ok for Christmas or is that something that needs to be done on Christmas Eve? My culinary skills are limited so I have no idea lol
  • I marzipaned mine saturday then Iced Sunday of last week and it looks fine.
I made 2 took one to a 90 birthday Party for our parish Priest and lets say I never got a slice or hubby, it was woofed down and aparently tasted very yummy!!

If she's just doing the top of the cake tommorrow will be fine.

If your goona buy extra marzipan and icing to do the sides too, then marzipan tommorrow and ice the following day. YES it will be fine till xmas.

My nan & grandad had a 25th wedding anniversary cake and the top tier was saved, we ate it a few years later, was lush. The slchohol acts as a preservative, - never see mouldy vokda do you!!!

Try Morrisons or Tesco. I got a round tin from Morrisons a few weeks back and very good price. Or could you aks any friends or neighbours if they have one you could borrow? That would eb the cheaper option ;-)
