All 3 cakes in my pic were 1 cake mix, I made 1 x 8 inch cake, then decided to cut out 3 smaller circle cakes using a cookie cutter and knife. But if you make individual cakes from the start in individual tins you will get 4, i Just didnt think about it beforehand.

I had to buy an extra pack of marzipan at £1.64 from tesco and a bit more icing sugar, as there was only enough to marzipan & ice 1 & a half of the small cakes.

My 3 cakes in the picture are 4inch on a 6 inch cake board.

The boxes were 67p each (designed for 6 inch cake boards), bows 40p each and cellophane £1.50 for 5 metres.

Although ebay has some, they have allsorts of boxes on there

    Hi Princesswoo,

Can I ask, do you mean you will get 4 x 8" cakes from one bag and if so did you bake your 4 at the same temp & time as if it was 1 cake you were baking?

ps your cakes look fab especially in your boxes :)

  • I saw these in my local tesco the other day but didn't buy one. After reading the reviews here I thought I would get one. Went to a BIG tesco and they weren't reduced at all - still £10 or £5 for cup cakes so still haven't got one :( I might try again
I need to make a new list for 2014
think of something to put on it!:rotfl:
Try harder for 2014 as I never managed it in 2012 or 2013

I've just re-read & I think you'll find she made 3 x 4" cakes by cutting them out of the larger cooked cake.

    Hope that helps. ;)

Made mine yesterday, double lined the tin (as instructions) then double lined the outside and put on top of double sheet of greese proof paper. Took exactly 4 hours and it looks purfect :) Was so worried it would burn but am so happy it did not. Cant wait to ice this christmas eve :)

Wow! This cake mix/kit is very forgiving.....after my kaput oven disaster the made up, uncooked, mix ending up standing for nearly 2 hrs and then was cooked in a far too small oven for the size of the tin....but it looks perfect! :j

Double lined the tin but with greaseproof not parchment, sat it on newspaper and wrapped newspaper round the outside of the tin and gave it a little greaseproof 'hat'....took 4 1/2hrs but the tin was slightly smaller than recommended so was deeper. Just marzipanned it and I am soooo pleased....gonna get another one today. Was very impressed by the quality of the ingredients. Do we think they might reduce it any further eventually? Also wondering if one of the kits would keep til Easter (thinking simnel cake) :p

Many thanks to the OP for the heads up on this, would never have bought one otherwise :T

Looking forward to making mine now, does anyone know where is good for getting the ribbon and decorations from please? Don't want to spend more on them than I did the cake ;) Also is it best to marzipan and ice it now or just wrap the cake and ice closer to eating?

for decorstion around the sides of the cake i cut a length of xmas wraping paper and fold it in quarters length ways and wrap that about the cake secure with a bit of tape can snip the top that sticks above the cake for a frilly version

you could use some mini baubles or choclate coins ( cheap and edible )

can wrap a piece of ribbon or tinsel around it too for a sparkly look

i havent iced or marzipan mine yet but it wil be fine if you do
