Noticed today Sains had their own Christmas cake mix in a red bag that looks very similar and £3.97, might help those who can't find the Mary Berry ones x

Mines cooked but it looks awful pale not a dark brown colour more sandy brown what colour did everyone elses look like?

Not sure if it's been mentioned before but I managed to use the £1 off cakes and puds coupon in the price drop mag.
Had to have it overridden as it said spend criteria not met.

Thats fine, better its a lighter colour than too dark.

If its just come out it will still be hot so will darken slightly.

The Sainsbury's Christmas Cake Decorating Kit is £3.97. Their Taste the Difference cake mix is £7.49 (half-price).

Yes, I have used it twice. First time the bored SA just over-rode the till. Second time I had to go to CS who told me it wasn't for cake mix. I was firm but bewildered (!), pointing out that both the pack and the receipt say 'cake' not 'cake mix' and that the coupon didn't specify cooked cakes.

Am slightly distressed that Mrs Peek's All Over Iced Rich Fruit Cake 907g is now £3, so with the price drop coupon, should be £2! Making my own is much more fun but suddenly it has become more expensive!

Has anybody soaked their fruit with more alcohol? I was thinking of soaking mine overnight with some cognac!

Bought small bottle of Cognac last year for xmas cause had whole family for dinner but nobody drank it so need to find a use for it!

thanks for posting this!! saw it and went and bought one to make with this kids the following day.....we were all so impressed we went and bought another to make and take to my parents for christmas day.
