Re-post of my previous post about Citibank FAQ's
How do I apply?
You can apply online at https://www.citibank.co.uk, you can apply quickly over the internet, takes about 10 minutes or you can download a PDF paper version of the form.
Alternatively, telephone Citibank on 0800 00 88 00 to apply on the phone.
What happens next?
If you have applied on the internet, you will receive a confirmation e-mail thanking you for your application. A paper application form arrives in the post, normally within a few days, asking you to provide proof of name and address (normally a bank statement or utility bill will do) dated within the last 3 months and a cheque for an initial deposit.
If you want to make use of up to £500 overdraft, enclose your most recent payslip.
Remember: You need to tick the box if you DON'T want an overdraft!
Help, I don't have a cheque book!
Simply provide a secondary form of ID, such as a colour photocopy of your photo page on your passport and send with your other ID and a cover letter stating you don't have access to a cheque book.
Ok, I've sent my application off, what next?
A confirmation letter will normally arrive within 4-5 days thanking you for your completed application, as long as you haven't forgotten anything and informing you your application will be processed in within 15 working days.
If you are waiting to hear and feel you'd like an update, call 0800 00 88 00 and ask.
If successful, you will be sent a welcome pack or letter soon after.
I have a poor credit history, will I be accepted?
By the looks of things, yes, lots of MSE forum members who feel they have a less than perfect credit score have got this account.
What do I get on the account?
Visa Delta Debit Card OR Visa Delta & £100 Cheque Guarentee
Cheque Book
£500 overdraft (subject to status)
N.B Not everyone is getting a £100 cheque guarentee, it may be dependant on the amount you say you will deposit in the account on your application or it may be dependant on credit history but both myself and my husband got this, he has terrible credit history but we pay in over £2k per month.
If you get the standard Visa card after 3 months you may be eligible to upgrade to the 3in1 card.
You get telephone and internet banking too.
There isn't a Citibank near me, how do I pay money in?
At any Lloyds TSB branch, this takes 4 working days for cash to hit your account though but internet transfers from other banks can take anything between 48 and 72 hours to reach your account.
You can also have your salary paid in and Citibank can transfer all your Direct Debits and Standing Orders for you.
How long before I receive....
My PIN- Usually 2-3 days after welcome letter
My Card- Usually 2-3 days after PIN's arrive
My Chequebook- You need to order your first chequebook from customer services, do this when you activate your card, normally takes 4-5 days.
My Paying in book- Usually 4-5 days after cards.
Where can I change my PIN?
At any Link cash machine
Any freebies?
Not from Citibank itself for account opening but go via Quidco for £50 cashback! after your account is up and running, you can refer a friend via the Citibank website and get both you and your friend 6 bottles of wine.
N.B The free iPod Nano offer has now finished.....
Is it an outsourced call centre?
Yes, but the staff are very good and have a competant level of English to be able to communicate and understand effectively, unlike some call centres!
Would I recommend Citibank?

Takes me about 2-3 days to transfer funds online from Natwest to Citibank. although it takes 1-2 for transfers from my Lloyds account, I very rarely used my LTSB account, only token money in and out and now it seems it has come in very handy for quick transfers to Citibank.£2 Coin Savers Club (Christmas)- £86£1 Jar (Christmas)- £29Christmas Vouchers Saved: £1450 -
DM.......thanks , so i suppose then the question im asking is would it be quicker to transfer from natwest , or use paying in book at Lloyds??
Although there is always the possibility that Natwest will close the account anyway??....

Certainly in my experience, it is quicker to transfer funds via internet banking on Natwest, I paid ii with my paying in book at LTSB out of curiousity recently, it took 5 working days whereas the internet transfer took 2-3, someone mentioned on the other citibank thread they transfered to Citi from Nationwide and it took 1-2 days.
I'd open a parachute basic account with internet banking facilities if you are worried about Natwest.£2 Coin Savers Club (Christmas)- £86£1 Jar (Christmas)- £29Christmas Vouchers Saved: £1450 -

QUICK help needed - trying to transfer funds into citibank from lloyds but account number seems too long - don't want to appear bit daft but do I drop the first two zeros????
Also can't seem to register for online banking as the screen keyboard won't appear!! Anyone else had this trouble or is it my pooey computer????0 -
welcome everyone to the citibank club, firstly mrsmather1 your account number is in your cheque book but not in your paying in book, I made this mistake myself, you should have a letter from them saying this is the sort code and this is your account number, its completely different from the ones on the paying in book, and I have been having problems with the online banking myself just wont save when I push the save button, but that could be something to do with my pc as been having major problems and had to up-grade major parts, also my internet keeps going off, oh the joys of bt total broadband, and you can get your account number off your card, the 16 number digits on your card make up your account number, write down the 16 digits then put a number 1 above the 6th number this should be the 1st number of your account number then put a number 2 above the 5th number then a 3 above the 3rd number 4 above the 4th number 5 above the 12th number 6 above the 11th number 7 above the 13th numberand 8 above the 1st number now if you write this down from 1-8 it should be your account number, this is how mine works out but I'm not 100% sure, its something the guy told me at HSBC when I forgot my slip.
Pls be nice to all MSer's
There's no such thing as a stupid question, and even if you disagree courtesy helps.
Tomorrow never come's as today is yesterday and tomorrow is today
MERRY CHRISTMAS FELLOW MSer's:xmastree:0
