Who's got an electric blanket? We've never had one but I fancy treating DH and myself to one for Christmas. Views welcome.

Off to bed now with a hottie.
I had one, many years ago now, ie when I was a teenager, that caused a house fire. If you do go for one, make sure to go for a "good" one, not the cheapest you can lay hands on which is what my father had done regarding mine. I'm too scared to use one now, even all these years later.:(
If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)

I need a new hoover as this one is useless for dog hairs even though it is supposed to be for animals - I'm thinking of either a Miele or a Dyson - anyone got any thoughts?

Jue - I have a dyson for pets (have 4 cats, 1 semi long haired) the only difference between a pet dyson and a normal dyson (that I can see) is that I got an extra attachment for stairs, sofa etc. Mine does pick up ok and is 3 years old. I brought my mum a basic dyson at the beginning of the year and the difference in the suction is amazing (hers is far better than mine). The dyson is heavy to lift up the stairs I find.

Miele get good write ups on product reviews on retailers websites and I think have a good housekeeping award.

But I know many people who swear by their Henry/Hetty and at £50-80 cheaper than a dyson, this will probably be my next choice of hoover if my dyson goes kerput.

Thanks - the only problen with a Henry/Hetty is that they're not upright ones and I tend to end up with my back hurting if I use a cylinder one.

Dyson do lightweight uprights. My mum brought one of the older lightweights but it was very flimsey IMHO and didn't last. Hopefully the new models are more robust. Also it needed emptying more often as the collecting part was a lot smaller.

Been to post office, shop and coffee shop for a rest. So hex's Christmas reading is on it's way (no idea what's in the box as I packed it ages ago)

Having a rest, then I might do a load of washing before lunch and hang it out before heading into town.

Jue - I have a dyson cylinder, and it doesn't strain my back like cheaper ones have as the rigid bit of the hose is long enough for me to stand up straight and it retracts easily to deal with closer stuff. The turbine head picks up pet hair really well from carpets, and the other ones are fine for hard floors. They even have an attachment for dealing with the problem at source ;)

My mum used to have a meile and was impressed by how much more the dyson picked up (actually, she was horrified by the amount of dirt that came out of her so-called clean carpets!).
  • HHC at 12 anyone?

Son & his friend still mostly occupying themselves so am having a productive day :j

Might have a quick lunch then another blast about at 12, more laundry & another cupboard pulled out in the office I think. Have a big charity shop bag so far - lots of unused birthday/christmas craft kits that are now a bit young for DS and some toys he has sorted out to go. Make wander down later if children fancy a trip out.

    Moam
Although no one can go back and make a brand new start, anyone can start from now and make a brand new ending.... life is a WIP.
