Waaaaaaahhhh!!! The pack of material is out of stock. Never mind it wasn't ear marked for anything but would have been nice.

Just had a little look around that site , very good prices bought 2 fat quarters and a new rotary cutter. Thanks for the link. Like your choice of fabric too.

Yeah! The prices aren't to bad are they, better than some I've seen.

    Glad you like the material.

  • I stitch constantly but often need a push to go into the sewing room when I'd rather be here checking out the forum. Today I did manage to finish a Victorian sleeping bonnet, a tissue box cover and a corset mock-up for a customer coming tomorrow. :j

I just wish I could afford to give up the "day job" and concentrate on sewing every day. :(

  • Ooh a sewing thread... Hope this may inspire me to get sewing.. I have a dress all cut out from a vintage pattern and from a huge length of vintage fabric I got for £1 at a carboot but it's been sitting waiting for me to do anything else to it for months:o. Ditto a lovely jelly roll of fabric I bought to make my first quilt with.

Tomorrow I vow to go to the sewing shop in my lunch break and get the zip I need to continue the dress and start searching for all the other stuff I need to begin my patchwork quilt journey.

I want to make roman blinds and other soft furnishings for my house so must start cracking on:p

Oh *cry. I want to join in but I can't :( I don't have a machine. I really, really, really would like a machine but see no way of getting a one (money.... or lack of) I've been trying on freecycle since August but nothing yet. I won't give up.

I have seen a machine on John Lewis for around £70 so I guess for now that is my goal. After Christmas I am going to set up a savings pot in the hope of being able to get a basic model.

Have you tried a "wanted" ad on Freecycle? Might be worth a try.

I have, I ask about once a month - I worry I'm breaking the rules. I can hand sew but extremely poorly. I hand sewed a draught excluder on Sunday and it's pretty poor.

I borrowed my mother in laws machine (that I broke so don't ever want to borrow again as it's an awful feeling) to knock up curtains (out of a matching duvet) and washing bag for my child's bedroom. I also sewed a cheap ikea fleecey blanket into a foot muff for the pushchair.

The world is your oyster with a sewing machine. It feels that way anyway.
