I love the booties!
My mum bought me a basic John Lewis machine about 4 years ago. I keep saying I want to find a course somewhere to teach me how to use it but yesterday I took the plunge and had a go at some cushion covers. My Mum and Dad have just found a house to buy after having spent 5 years renting whilst they looked, it's a renovation job so won't be moving in until next spring. I figured as they bought me the machine it would be nice to use it to make something so I made my Mum 4 cushion covers complete with zips for Christmas! I just hope she likes them because she can't take them back lol! I'm really chuffed I managed to do them and am now having to sit on my hands to stop me making dozens more!0 -
Those fabric trees look gorgeous, thanks for the link Tigerfeet. No sewing for me tonight have come home from work with a headache. My next task is to try and set up a sewing area so that I don't have to put it all away every time we need to use the dining table. Might take over DD's room while she's at Uni. Happy sewing to all£180.00 in 'sistercas'fund
Hope is like the sun, which, as we journey toward it, casts the shadow of our burden behind us.

Thanks everyone!
They turned out better than expected as I've only been sewing on and off for the past year (and have only mastered straight lines!)
They are really easy and a good way to recycle a jumper. For my DD's version I have an M&S fake suede shirt (£1) that I'm going to use on the sole to make it non slip.
If you want to see how the pros make these slippers have a look at these:

Thought I'd share the project I'm currently working on. They're slippers made from pure wool jumpers that I felted in the washing machine. I picked up the jumpers from charity shops, and luckily for me the one I volunteer in let's me have a rake in their rag bags for a donation!
So I did a trial run using my DD's doll, and they've came out really well! If anyone wants a go here's the tutorial I followed: http://thrillinglythrifty.blogspot.com/2010/10/recycled-wool-sweater-slippers-tutorial.html

Megs those slippers are so cute. I have a blue cashmere jumper from the charity shop which I felted ages ago planning to make a cushion cover. I think the sleeves will become slippers for my little one. Thanks for the link.
I would love to join this thread. I have an old Toyota sewing machine and a Singer treadle machine which was recued from a skip. It needs fixing but is very beautiful.
I was hoping to start running some sewing classes while on mat leave but time has whizzed by with me not getting anywhere. It's definately an idea for the future. I love sewing and would love passing on skills. Too many crafts are dying out these days, it's such a shame.
I'm looking forward to have a good nosey at the items everyone has made. I'm very nosey.:p

There is an Old Style thread which Squeaky posted a link to https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/1664531. There are lots of ideas and brilliant makes on it.0
