Re voucher lady: I was afeard for her printer cartridge bill! I have printed out a few vouchers in my time I must admit and they always seem to be in glorious technicolour. I wonder how much each one costs. They do save me a lot of money though.
Thanks to her husband for his explanations - mine won't eat suspicious looking microburgers or the like either. "What, mammoth again?" is something of a family joke. (it's from Molesworth's "How to be Topp")
He thinks I am manic when I just make a healthy(? not if nobody eats it:o) veggie casserole. So what he would say to me cycling round the stores hunting down cheapy burgers, I hate to think.
Also I don't have the time. That app would irritate the heck out of me, because I only get one shot at eh supermarket shopping. so I would be thinking all the time Urgghh, should have gone to Sainsbury's after all! Can i possibly get to Asda tonight? Is it worth it? Dammit why did I come to tescos? etc etc.
I think the people criticising voucherlady for not paying for the lunches SHE organises is a bit rich..... Without her input, they might happen at all, right? So why should she not enjoy a free sandwich? I bet she doesn't have time for much more than that, what with all the clearing up and serving people. I always have a free coffee when I am helping serve it out at any event, and don't feel guilty about it because I am donating my time and energy. :A0 -
It wasn't just that she took £15 for expenses but that she also said that she wouldn't pay much for any charity lunch. She's happy to make money but not spend it, not even for her charity.
Edited to say that I didn't call her a thief. Did anyone else on this board do that? Her husband thinks so." The greatest wealth is to live content with little."

Not on this one, I think it was on the one in The Arms though.moomoomama27 wrote: »I enjoyed that, but that voucher woman disgusted me! Taking out 'expenses' of £15 (yeah right!), and then admitting to a free lunch on the charity, she's a thief and a stingy one at that!
I'm all for money saving, but I'm sure what she was doing was not right. I thought you could only hand in 1 coupon per product bought?0 -
To go against the grain of thoughts on here I thought the man from the couple with the son was completely obsessed and I thought he would be very boring to live with. How can driving to three or four different supermarkets just to get £1 off a tub of margarine save any money? He must spend so much time shopping, there are other things to do in life. If he really wanted to save money don't eat margarine or eat less of it. I also felt a bit sorry for his family because they said they had saved thousands but he could not spend it. It struck me that he lacked balance. I could understand all his efforts if they were really up against it but that was not what was portrayed.
I think the voucher lady did nothing wrong in not paying for a lunch that she had put so much hard work into. If it was not for her much less money would go to charity.
Both the couple with the son and the voucher lady seemed to buy so much branded stuff. I cannot see that as a desirable thing at all, definitely not for me. As I work a lot I simply would not have the time to put into such efforts and if I did have the time (to me time is the most expensive commodity) there are so many other things I would do. I would rather work and get paid for it and then spend my money rather than spend my time doing such things.0 -
I wonder if Tesco would happily take £55 of vouchers from a £60 shop if they hadnt been being filmed. Im sure Ive read on here that Tesco now dont even want computer vouchers anymore so slightly out of date anyway
One of the reasons shops now dont like coupons is because of individual greed - 20 deos???, endless food not even wanted.
Selfish and greedy was my opinion and not one of 'oh I wish I was like that'.
Well done the wedding couple though.

Do vouchers work in the self scan isles? One of the reasons shops now dont like coupons is because of individual greed - 20 deos???, endless food not even wanted.

Greed, yes, but of the companies: they want to make as much money out of you as possible, and vouchers chip away at their profits. A voucher here or there, to tempt you to buy more expensive brand-name items, is something they don't mind.I have no signature.0 -
Actually I quite enjoyed the programme! Made me realise that maybe I ought to look into the voucher business as I never do. Admired the couple who did their wedding cheaply. Liked the couple who compared prices. Not so kken on the road kill - but accept that that's just me. And yes, I did assume that the programme was "set up" to produce an effect. Really hope Jwen (voucher lady) will post some more - she clearly has info to share!Resolution:
Think twice before spending anything!0 -

It isn't just you, Beemused!
I actually daren't tell my sister to watch the programme on 4OD because of all the ghastly roadkill bits.0 -
I would love to be able to reduce my shopping bill by tht much with vouchers but I spent hours trawling various sites and forums the other night and found nothing. All the vouchers are for stuff I woukdn't buy and the odd one that was valid was for a few pence. Looking at my last shopping bill and the vouchers and offers available would have saved me about £2 at most.0

Off topic of moneysaving, but did anyone notice how polite that little boy was in the supermarket? - He was adorable! They seemed like a lovely family as did the voucher family (sorry don't know their names).0
