Hi clearadvisor,
I haven't watched the whole programme yet......Mr Pink had the cheek to turn my laptop off in the middle of it late last night because he claimed I was snoring.Me snore? Never!
I've added your thread to the existing one on this programme where hopefully you'll get more replies.

Does anyone know of a site where you can compare prices at morrisons? They're not on mysupermarket, can't get to grips with supermarket website and morrison's own website is naff. Morrisons is just that bit far away that it would require a special trip for me (well, hour walk there and £1.20 on the bus back but it's time consuming) but I know they do occasionally have brilliant deals.Living cheap in central London :rotfl:0

I admired the couple who planned their wedding. Starting your married life in debt for the sake of one day cannot be a good idea.
Also the couple who checked prices before doing the shop.
But
How on earth did she collect that many vouchers if she always took such a bundle for her regular shop?
And
How much money did that bloke spend on petrol collecting his roadkill?0 -
a couple of things I didnt like was the coupon woman not paying for her lunch at the church fundraiser and the fact that she was going to write to the pizza company to get her money back saying her son didnt like it when he agreed to let hr cook it anyway. Both are just dishonest IMO.0

I thought the programme was mildly interesting, but
1. I wouldnt eat road kill
2. WHERE did she get all those coupons from?
I didnt learn anything (sadly), except these type of programmes seem quite "trendy" at the moment.

For those of you who wouldn't eat road kill, why not?
Atleast you know where the meat has come from and it's not been pumped full of chemicals or kept in battery/intensive farming conditions. You'd also know that if you minced it and made burgers or sausages that the meat wasn't the water blasted bits or bits that no one really wants to eat if they think about it.Annual Grocery Budget £364.00/£1500

The coupon lady ...... I also wondered where she got them from - I get the odd one for 20p and maybe 50p but there were ones there for £3 which I've never seen!
It didn't bother me that she didn't pay at the charity do - she spent time doing the shopping and preparing the food so it was fair IMVHO - but I did think complaining about a pizza that there was obviously nothing wrong with was way out of line (and may make manufacturers think twice when people do genuinely have a problem that they need to complain about).
Roadkill man - again, agree that the use of fuel must surely make this less worthwhile .... and again time - those that work full time / have a family would certainly struggle to do this.
The wedding couple were lovely and just think of the satisfaction with making most things yourself - but I also would've had some booze for the guests....
Scanner / online checking guy - sorry but that was a bit too far for me .... every night? Sorry but I've just not got the time! And then popping to different sm to get the cheapest things - fine if they're next door but my nearest one is a 18 mile round trip, no 2 is another 18 mile round trip (different direction) and the rest a good 50+ miles round trip .... not at all MSE!Grocery Challenge £211/£455 (01/01-31/03)

I watched it this morning and found the lady who had all the coupons a bit on the greedy side Even if I knew there was going to be a special offer on something I would only buy what I needed no one needs 16 tins of deodorant FGS.Plus I couldn't understand why her and her OH were eating perfectly nice food and the boys were being filled up with junk food (even if it was free)I jst don't believe that you could collect all those coupons in the space of a week(unless you had access to lots of magazines
I live about a mile from the Gillingham store and it definitely wasn't there as they are very sniffy about changing coupons at all in there.
The young asian couple were lovely and taking their boy to the park is something I often do with my DGS (Riverside Country Park) and they love it.Don't think I would buy quite so many 'branded' goods though.
The road kill chap I think was a bit over optimistic about the cost of the 'free meat' and why stick a seagull complete with feathers in your freezer, and even a dead mouse Yuk I know he wanted to 'stuff it' but why ??? Nowt so queer as folk I suppose
I admire the young couple not getting into debt for their wedding, the fripperies that surround a wedding is absurd I have two granddaughters and one is engaged but I can't see either her Mum ,stepdad or her own Dad coughing up 25k for a wedding.Mine cost us a ring (£4.00),steak and chips afterwards for me and OH and brother and sis-in-law (£9.00) and an outfit that I could wear again for other occasions (and I did)Dress and coat £10.00 true it was 1963 but I never felt deprived because I never had a fancy wedding I married the man I adored and that was all that mattered, plus we were stoney broke anyway:)
Not a bad programme, but Superscrimpers is better I think with more sensible ideas to help streeetch the pennies0
