Have taped this now itching to watch it but have chores to do first bah

Having watched Extreme Couponing I think most of the comments on that centred around what foodstuff was actually bought and the lack of any healthy stuff too.
  • I wish we'd have seen a close up of some of her vouchers. The Aunt Bessie's one, for instance. That's from their Facebook site, and is restricted to 1 per person. How did she manage to get so many legally??
Tesco don't take Sainsbury's vouchers any more, and my locals never ever took the 50p off a product type, just the £5 off a £40 spend, so I found that a bit misleading. In fact I found her a bit cheap, especially regarding the charity donation, or lack thereof. I reckon this will backfire on her and all coupon users when Tesco (who, lets face it need less than this incentive) change their coupon policy and only allow 1 per customer or something.
It will be like when Martin was on TV and told everyone to print dogfood coupons and get free stuff from Tesco - the next week they cut right down on coupon use.

    It's only a game

  • Just seen this on V+ and agree with some of the comments, mainly the roadkill guy and his petrol spends, the coupon lady doing things that either aren't allowed any more or just unrealistic (number of coupons etc), and the family buying all brand names.

Someone mentioned an Android app for price checking, I've downloaded RedLaser (free) which you can use to scan barcodes and compare prices. Not used it in a supermarket yet, but had a look at some stuff I've got at home and it gives prices for online stores etc too.

Was I the only one watching the couple comparing prices and thinking "Branded goods?! Crunchy Nut for £2.39? Lightweights!!" lawl.

I thought this too, they were spending far more than they needed too, why did they have to have 'Burton' jammie dodgers??

I've downloaded the supermarket phone app but it's not much use as I buy store own brands or value, I rarely buy branded. :xmassmile

I haven`t got time to read all 116 posts just now but could someone please tell me the website the Asian couple were using to compare prices from all the supermarkets.

TBH l say okay for that lady to have a free lunch, she did after all do all the shopping, cooking putting the lunch on - she raised even more money for Fairtrade by shopping wisely. Can't begrudge her a free lunch!

What did annoy me though was her comment about the pizzas stuffed crust, 'l'll complain you didn't like the tomato in it' so she could get a free one!! What a nerve!! If you don't like it don't buy it, why should she get a free voucher for something she didn't like? :rotfl:

BTW l think she must be a member of this forum? I had to laugh at the dove deoderant that she said cost her 5p - 10p each we were all taking advantage of that one. :rotfl:

As for the comments about the quality of meals, l suppose we only saw one or two so you can't judge, it's a bit like the lunchbox police thread we had on the families board the other day, one iffy lunch doesn't mean your whole diet is bad. :o

I loved the young couple and the road kill guy.... yuk! I also wondered why he hadn't gutted everything before putting it in the freezer....

    Happy moneysaving all.
  • Yes I believe the lady with the vouchers is a member of this forum. Good luck to her I say, that she had the b***s to take that huge pile of coupons to Mr. T. A few year ago I would have felt a bit self conscious about picking up a penny off of the floor or using coupons . Now I like the challenge and I think that is maybe what drives this lady, if it means she is able to work a few less hours a week and it makes her happy , who can knock her?

However wasn't so keen watching one of her boys chewing with his mouth wide open , manners cost err... nothing ;)

Well I live in the same town as the coupon lady and that certainly wasn't our town centre Mr T's or any of the metros that have sprung up locally. In fact I was racking my brains trying to think which one it was so she is almost certainly having a bit of a drive to get to it which kind of defeats the object.

I also thought that it didn't look like a 'proper' weekly shop with all the fresh stuff that you'd normally buy. I also noticed that she fed her kids processed junk while her and her husband had a meal cooked from scratch.

I am in the same town as well and was alos wondering what Mr T's she was using, Possibly Gillingham ot Lakeside?

Well Lakeside's going to cost her £3 for using the tunnel and bridge (unless she's got coupons for that as well :rotfl:). Possibly Gillingham then. Or Larkfield?
