No I don't feel pushed into anything at all, infact I'm really excited to join in ( does that make me sad?! ). Funnily enough our mortgage advisor rang last night to see if there was a possibility of us switching mortgage with Santander putting their SVR up but she didn't realise how much our house has de-valued since we bought it so advised to overpay as much as we can afford.
So no overpayments yet but I've set up a new account on my bank for mortgage overpayments where I'll pop money in then at the end of the month put it towards the mortgage. It's going to be things like money left over from food and petrol each month ( I put a set amount aside, so anything left over at the end of the month will go in there ), I've just cancelled our gym memberships so that'll be an extra £50 a month from next month to go in this pot etc Looking forward to seeing how we get onNew House... Halifax sent me a letter this week to say they would be changing all of my mortgage account details later this year. I was so tempted to write back and say "yes you'll be changing them to account closed";)0

No 43 reporting that I've done it !!!!!! Hope you will all share my excitement - though the champers will have to be virtual at this time of the morning
£18,000 OP'd on line a few minutes ago and the mortgage balance is now a big fat ZERO. All that remains is to pay the closure fee on 1.10 (ERC's apply before then which rather defeats the money saving objective).
Good luck to you all on your own journeys - this morning might have seen the biggest OP I've ever made but I can assure you I made many of 10p or less so keep chipping away. I'll be cheering you all on from the sidelines
