    Morning all,

It's amazing what clearing up the finances can bring to light icklehelen! Well done on the extra OP, all updated for you and you should definitely achieve your target in September.

Another great OP froddington, you too are well ahead of target for year to date, brilliant.

Superb OP Mortgagefreeby50 which as you rightly say puts you well ahead of target, well done.

Oh my muddywhitechicken! That is awful! I can't even imagine how it must feel so my thoughts are with you and yours. Considering everything I think you are an absolute star to even think about the OP at this time. Well done and I hope they manage to get the thieving b*gger.

OK, that's it for this morning. I may be back later but if not I'll update tomorrow.

Take care and have a good weekend,

    Good news twice over...

Got two lots of 85.25 interest (170.50) on 31st August, so that's been added to the overpayment fund.

The overpayments for September have also been collected today, so I can add 1,362.59 to my September overpayment total.

Year to date, I'm looking like this and I've also achieved my goal :j

    #29 - Overpay by £10,400.00.

Month: Ideal Pay / Ideal Total / Ideal % / Actual Pay / Actual Total (Diff) / Actual %

    January: 866.67 / 866.67 / 8.33% / 862.59 / 862.59 (-4.08) / 8.29%
    February: 866.67 / 1,733.33 / 16.67% / 1,202.59 / 2,065.18 (+331.85) / 19.86%
    March: 866.67 / 2,600.00 / 25.00% / 1,112.59 / 3,177.77 (+577.77) / 30.56%
    April: 866.67 / 3,466.67 / 33.33% / 1,112.59 / 4,290.36 (+823.69) / 41.25%

    June: 866.67 / 5,200.00 / 50.00% / 1,212.59 / 6,615.54 (+1,415.54) / 63.61%
    July: 866.67 / 6,066.67 / 58.33% / 1,362.59 / 7,978.13 (+1,911.44) / 76.71%
    August: 866.67 / 6,933.33 / 66.67% / 1,533.09 / 9,511.22 (+2,577.89) / 91.45%
    September: 866.67 / 7,800.00 / 75.00% / 1,362.59 / 10,873.81 (+3,073.81) / 104.56%

    Total overpaid: £10,873.81

I'm also net positive with regard to savings / mortgage, but that's all of my savings, current account and the pennies down the back of the sofa etc. Still need some funds for living and credit card repayments, so unlikely to do the deed this month!

Off to do two updates - August and September.

    Good afternoon,

Fantastic figures there financialbliss and as you correctly identified your target is now smashed, well done. Let me know if you want to set a new current target.

I hope you won't mind me noting here that financialbliss has set up and will run a new Mortgage Free in Three - Take 3 (MFiT-T3) challenge from December 2012 to December 2015. If you are interested in that challenge, please click the link and read the details of how it will work and how to register in the posts on the first page. Many thanks for your dedication FB.

A nice OP pavlov's_dog and you are ahead of year to date target.

From the googledoc, a lovely OP gymsalesjames, all updated for you and bang on target.

Also a cracking OP from skaps which smashes through your target, brilliant. Do let me know if you want to set a new target for the remainder of the year.

    Ok, that's it for now.

    Take care,

Morning all. No 43 reporting in with September's OP. Could you put me down for £971 please Spiggle.
All being well I'll be reporting in again later in the week to tell you all I've made the really big OP that will finish my MF journey. Its getting so close now and I really can't wait.
Congrats to you all for your OPs, great and small and thanks again Spiggle for running the challenge and keeping our records straight

  • Morning all

I've been reading through this thread over the last few days and whilst I'm too late to take part this year I'm really looking forward to joining you all next year. Just juggling our budget at the moment to see what we can comfortably afford to overpay. We bought our house at the worst possible time in 2007 just before the recession hit and house prices plummeted so we're in negative equity and desperately trying to build some equity in our home. We've been overpaying by £135 a month for a couple of years now so have been trying, but I think we need to make more of an effort, especially as we're with Santander who have just put their SVR up which we're stuck with. I just want more options for us so we can move mortgage and hopefully get a better interest rate.

So I will continue following you for the rest of the year and join you all next year when I will hopefully have a target :D
