Morning all. Chocoholic-Chick, I don't think it's ever too late to join the challenge!
I'm a bit late updating, but my August o/p was 1200.
Great over payments being made by everyone - it's so inspiring, and makes me want to pay off this wretched mortgage as soon as possible.MFiT T3 no 115, MFW 2015 no 65

I completely agree, Rockabelle, and I'd also add that if Choc- Chick joins in now, and set a target for the remainder of the year, she'll probably find that this thread encourages her to go for it hell for leather. I wouldn't have achieved anywhere near what I have, if I didn't regularly check in here.
Go on, Chocoholic-Chick, join us this year...you know you want to...:rotfl:0 -
Totally agree with everyone above - I joined late and look forward to being able to post an OP... it gives me an incentive to do so, then I start reading about everyone elses, then I want to post another so it's a sort of virtuous circle!
MFW #151 reporting an automated OP of £590 today. I think this brings my mortgage to a number beginning with £145xxx which is a big milestone. Waiting for the payment to clear so I can see it for myself!Debt free as of 01/06/13

Well I've been looking at my budget this morning and I think next year my aim is to increase my monthly payments to £700 ( possibly to £750 part way through the year depending on interest rates/pay increases ) meaning I'll be overpaying by somewhere in the region of £180 a month plus make ad hoc overpayments to the sum of £2000 as and when we can afford it. I've downloaded a spreadsheet someone put together on here so if we manage the £2000 + regular monthly overpayments we should hopefully be overpaying by £4180 next year, though I think I'd probably just include the £2000 ad hoc overpayments as my target as I see the £700 as my normal mortgage payment.
This year I'm really going to struggle to make any overpayments as we've had alot of work done to the house, which we had to take a loan out for but I'm overpaying on that so it should be finished part way through next year ( about 12 months early ) and we've got a week away booked for November so need to finish paying that off plus holiday money. Financial next year should be more comfortable as once the loans are paid off it'll free up £600 per month, hence the reason for wanting to start tackling the mortgage!
I'll try to aim to make a few overpayments this year, so will aim for £200. I know its nothing compared to most, but it's probably all we can realistically hope to afford at the moment.New House... New Mortgage! February 2017: £144,000

Hi all
Just going to hover here until the end of the year and join properly next year. I am, starting from next month, paying £70 a month overpayment on my mortgage and saving anything else I can in my ISA as the rate is a lot better than my 0.98% mortgage.
Hoping to get lots of inspiration from this thread.Fashion on a ration 0 of 660 -

Evening everyone, just updating
OP for September is £100
Cheers Spiggle0 -
Fantastic figures there financialbliss and as you correctly identified your target is now smashed, well done. Let me know if you want to set a new current target.
Take care,
Spigs
Ok Spigs - I'll bite.
I'll up the previous total of £10,400 to a total of £12,193.
I may be plus or minus 50p / 75p or so, but that's my best guess based on future daily interest calculations. That should see me in a position to be mortgage free.
I'll update via form. Need to turn in, like erm, yesterday! Probably later on Tuesday evening now.

Morning everyone. Very happy today :j. Firstly can report OP of £250 for September and secondly managed to find local handyman/ house maintenance person who thinks he can sand and fill my windows without having to replace them. Most importantly this means not having to increase mortgage to pay for it! So still on target for being MF in 2018. Congratulations everyone else on all your OPs too and thank you so much again to Spiggle. :TMFW - number 11
OP Target for 2014 £1500 Mortgage now £437450
