Hi
Just a note to let you all know that the Nat West have today credited my account with £140.00 following a remortgage in 2005. they charged me £225.00 at first even though I complained at the time with no luck. :rotfl: Try it yourself. It does work.
Thanks for the advice Martain. Keep up the good work. :j0 -
i swapped my mortgages a lot and so had 3 letters to send off to halifax and had quick reply. Had no idea what the fees were when took mortgage out, however, halifax responded really quick and i have got £135 over the 3 motgages which is the difference. Each mortgage was only kept for 2 years or so which is why there was not much difference.
Pleased with this but did wonder if i should have cliamed interest or waited to see if maybe a ruling will be around in the future which will reduce the fees even more as still £75 is a high cost when its just sending out some paperwork. What do you think/
Still waiting on Intelligent Finance - have not responded within my 14 days so not sure what to do next - any ideas?
but very happy to get something back i wasn't expecting :T0 -
I have not heard from inelltigent Finace either - they have taken longer than 14 days. but halifax responded really quickly - supposed to all be the same company?
let me know how you get on with IF and I'll do the same.
Thanks

Hi there,
absolutely delighted -sent my template letter off a fortnight ago and received an offer of £75.00 yesterdy - wonderful - thanks so much for such an easy way to reclaim what is rightfully mine!!!0 -
I received a cheque for £75 today from Halifax0

Used the letter, the fee was £65 when I took the mortgage out, it had risen to £295 when I swapped, they have just sent me a cheque for £100 and I am just about to ask for more !!! Used another site with RPI history and with inflation the £65 would have risen to £90, so am asking for another £95,
After all i'm not greedy !!!
P.S. Are mortgage arrangment fees being challenged because the name is a mis-noma it doesn't cost £595 to set up a mortgage????0 -
Hi All.
I know that I should plough through all of the posts to find the answer but wonder if anyone would be kind enough to answer this for me?
Took out a Mortgage with Bristol & West, in 1978 and redeemed it 18 years later. B&W have now been bought out. Is this too far back to claim?
If not, how will I get the info I need?
ALSO what about fees for early redemption of Endowments? Are these par for the course?

Hi
Sorry if this has been asked before, but I have remortgaged with the Woolwich several times in the last eight or so years, always going onto their best deal available at the time. I know there were some charges each time, but would they have charged me exit fees each time? And if so, are these reclaimable?
I actually left them in October 2006, so I am about to ring them as I can see that I have a claim for this last mortgage.
Anyone had a similar experience.

I think that i may have found the info but thought I'd leave the q for others to read.
Looks like (Unless someone tells me different) that the BS's were reasonable with their charges till about 1990 so anything prior to this date isn't worth pursuing. Right?
Still don't know about the Endowment Q though?"Unhappiness is not knowing what we want, and killing ourselves to get it."Post Count: 4,111 Thanked 3,111 Times in 1,111 Posts (Actual figures as they once were))Women and cats will do as they please, and men and dogs should relax and get used to the idea.0 -
Cheltenham and Glos. went from £100 to £225 in a year. I complained twice and they wouldn't budge so I went to the Ombudsman on the basis that the rise was too much, too soon and had the basis to rise infinitely. They got C&G to reduce it to £100 whenever I want to redeem the mortgage.:beer:0
