Just rang Natwest as we moved in Oct 06 and were charged £225 but have had mortgage since Dec 04, they agreed over the phone to a refund of £125 to go into my account in next 10 days. Did make sure first that we had not changed our product or added any extra borrowing first but only took 3 mins.Too many children, too little time!!!0 -
Wow Martin you are a star!
I just called Cheltenham and Gloucester and was told that I am due almost 140.00 back. They said they are swamped with calls but will have my money refunded to my bank account within 2 weeks.

Halifax mortgage from July 2000-2002. Should have paid £50 but paid £75. Refund of £25 plus interest on its way. I didn't have the mortgage details, just the address of the property and a rough idea of when the mortgage was. Called 08457 27 37 47 and they were very helpful.
Thanks all! Now for Abbey....
Does anyone have an idea what happened to Britannic Money? I had a mortgage with them a 3-4 years ago.0 -

Thanks! Has anyone had any success with these guys? I imagine they're not going to be as forthcoming as Halifax/C&G...0 -
Read all the details on this subject a few weeks ago (but then got distracted by chasing bank charges). Anyway dug out my old Halifax details last night, phoned them this morning and went through to the dedicated option on the menu.
1 minute call, £75 cheque on its way!!
They did quote 28 days but said it will probably be before that.
Thanks Martin and all on MSE :T0 -
A very quick call to Halifax this morning resulting in a cheque for £155 being sent out within 28 days.
I was asked how I found out about claiming and of course I mentioned Martin and his fantastic website, the guy at the other end said he was also a huge fan of Martin.£2 coin savers club = £194 (joined 13/10/06)

I transferred my mortgage from the Northern Rock in 2005 at which time they made an exit charge of £250.
I sent them your template letter and today received a refund cheque totalling £165.
Many thanks for your excellent advice0 -
Abbey charged us £225 for paying the mortgage off, I said at the time it was expensive. Downloaded the template from the website. Lo and behold thanks we received £160 this week. Only sent the template letter and they sent a form to fill in giving the mortgage details, as easy as that.:rotfl: :money:0

Want to say thank you very much for your website and to my friend who brought this to my attention.
It took 6 minutes & 15 seconds for Halifax to say Yes. I'm due to get £75 by cheque.
Next stop is Future Mortgages. Say a prayer!:T
Thank You Martin & Especially to Eva0
