Hi
I wrote off to Cheltenham & Gloucester and Abbey regarding mortgages with them in the last few years. Didn't get anywhere with C&G but got a cheque yesterday for £14 from Abbey. It's not a huge amount but it's £14 more than I had yesterday
I was surprised actually as I had no mortgage number details or exact dates for them. I just said it was about 2 years ago and gave them the address and my DoB.

I used the template letter to try to reclaim fees from the Principality, as my original contract stated £56 fee and I was charged £135 only 3 years later. Their response stated in addition to the 56 was £36 for production of deeds. Therefore the increase ws only of £43 and they had kept me informed and they consider the fees reasonable.
They say this is the final management decision. They have obviously chosen to take strong line. Don't know if it is worth pursuing further?0 -
HI, I wrote to the Halifax and they have just said we are due £75.00 back, Thanks Martin:jSilver Surfer, Always Smiling

triedbutfailed Principality are virtually the only lender who have got the FSA to accept that their fee increases represent reasonable increases in costs. They are taking the moral high ground and the FSA have accepted this. Their Ts & Cs stated that their fee would increase in line with costs, and that is what they've done. I don't think you have a strong case to take things further - IMHO the FOS are not going to uphold a complaint where the FSA have said that Principality's approach is valid.0
