  • Just a quick call to the hot line and I received 132 pounds back, so I called my sister and told her, she was not going to bother so I made her and she was refunded 68 pounds. Cheers Martin:beer:
  • Ive been offered £90 from Northen Rock after using template off this site, Whole process took less than a fortnight! cheers
  • Got home yesterday to a letter from Northern Rock offering me £55. The difference between the £250 that I paid last June when I remortgaged with Halifax and the fee of £195 that was quoted when I took out the mortgage two years earlier.

It's taken them the best part of two months and I was a bit worried because I've moved house since I had the mortgage with NR and wondered whether they'd think I was pulling a fast one.

My boyfriend is now on the case with his - the promise of a cheque looks good to him!

    Thanks Martin!

A mortgage indemnity fee is nothing like an exit fee, and it's not subject to any adverse FSA ruling. There's nothing to reclaim there.
  • :money:Just received notice of bank returning over £300.00. It has taken ages and have had to go to the Financial Ombudsman because of the length of time they were taking. Thanks guys for the advice and cover letter to get me going. Everybody just stick at it as it is worth it.

Just successfully reclaimed £200 from Abbey on my mortgage exit fee ! I took out my mortgage in 1981(yes,I am ancient) when exit fee was about £25. Earlier this year I had to pay an exit fee of £225. I used the template letter to reclaim and got a cheque from Abbey for £175 in July. I complained to them that they had used 1997 figures to calculate the repayment and last week received a cheque for a further £25 - as a 'goodwill gesture' It took some persistence, but wasn't too time consuming as everything was done by e-mail. Go get 'em I say!!

  • Hi,

After reading MEAF reclaims I checked with Llyods as they charged me £100 admin.fee when I paid off my mortgage in 2004. It transpires they should not have charged any fee at all. Result £122.74 on its' way back to me.
    Thanks moneysavingexpert.
  • :money: Ive just received my cheque from GMAC for £30. Only took a 5 minute phone call last week.

Putting it into the savings for me and my daughters to go and see the Tutenkhamun and Terracotta Soldiers exhibitions!

    Thanks Martin x
