Letter sent to Northern Rock 24th May requesting any overpaid MEAF fees, (DOM, as refered to by NR)
Letter recieved today. Was charged £250, and should of only paid £160.
cheque to follow for £90, when acceptance letter is returned.

Quite impressed with the service given in response to this request, although, should never of had to make it in the first place!!!!!!!!!

A&L have agreed to drop my mortgage exit rate from £295 to £85, apparently this applies to anyone who's had a mortgage from them before aug 2004. HTH :)
No one said it was gonna be easy!
  • Just phoned Halifax who are arranging a cheque to be sent out for £40 and we have only just transfered our mortgage from Abbey and our mortgage advisor had already pre typed a covering letter for us to send to Abbey to claim back £126! Fingers crossed we'll get that back in a few weeks too!

I'm so happy!!! Many thanks to all xx

I got £270 from Halifax early this year after writing to them that I had nothing on paper nor was it explained to me when I changed from a endowment missold in 1989 to a repayment in 2003.

Soon after I complained about the financial advisor that it wasnt explained to us nor written in the keyfacts that we would have to pay £500 for a mortgage with GE money. We got that back as they accepted they were at fault plus £25 insurance again it wasnt explained to us

That's not generally true. It was £195 from January to July 2004, then £295 thereafter. £85 applies to mortgages a lot older than 2004.
  • The advice on this site about reclaiming MEAFs is fab. I used the template letter to contact Cheltenham and Gloucester last week after finishing my mortgage about 14 months ago. Within a week they replied and have said they are sending me a cheque for £189. Fantastic!!!!! :T
