    Excellent news!
I bet that's made your weekend all the more shiny :)

I do feel a little different now that the End Of Debt is near. I think shiny is a good word for it! :D

    Hi MT

What fabulous news, we should have an online party when its all paid :beer:
Thank you for the lovely PM. It really did make me think about whats right for me. My DD mentioned (again) the other day that I have promised to take her to London next year (she will be 12) to do all the sight seeing. Will have to bend your ear about somewhere nice (and cheap) to stay for the weekend. I came down when it was Live 8 but stayed near the Excel centre. I think that would be a bit far out for just the two of us.

Sorry to hear that A has backed off again. What is it with men?? I have made a decision to stay single now and I'm happy with that. I think my happiest time was when I was single for three years lol.

Will catch up again Sunday and thanks again.

    Lil
    xx

Oh yes, an online party it is! Another thing to look forward to.

Let me know rough dates of when you plan to visit London and I'll give you my London ideas that are a good price, including accommodation. If you book early there are usually some really good deals to be had.

I do actually enjoy being single so I'm not feeling too phased about the distance with A. I think that's the first time I've felt this calm about things with a man though, so that's progress.

    hello!

all exciting your end debt wise then! you must be so thrilled! i'm wondering about doing a full and final offer - i'm going to have a read on here about what it means though, my defaults roll of in 2014 I don't want to do anything that will screw my credit for another 6 years...

As for A - your coming to the end of a hard slog and the begining of a whole new start - you don't need the drama of wondering whats going on, why its happening, I know its easy to say from the outside looking in - but look what you acheived - ON YOUR OWN - I'd take a step back yourself as see what happens fill your life with your friends and if he sorts himself out all well and good - if he doesn't - you'll hardly notice!

well done you looking forward to seeing your name on the roll of honour I feel like that is soo far in the future for me - I wish I was you right now - your life goes a bit on hold during all this - your about to restart yours - you must be thrilled!

Hello Wiggles01, thanks for stopping by.

Apparently, regarding this full and final settlement, it just means that instead of the default stating "settled" on my credit report it will state "Final settlement figure reached" or something along those lines, so any company looking at my report will see I didn't pay the full amount that I owed. But, when the default falls off my report next year, so does that information which I'm more than comfortable with for the amount of money I save. I also didn't ask them for a full and final figure. I offered them 1/3rd of what i owed as final settlement, they said no and then worked out what they would be prepared to accept. So, good luck with your creditors. As nervous as I was, I'm really glad I did it.

Thanks for the words on A. You're right, I have achieved a fair amount on my own, and I am strangely calm about the whole situation. I think feeling in control of my debts has helped me just feel calmer about other areas of my life.

The time does go by quite quickly when going through debt busting. I actually felt that instead of wandering through my life carefully not trying to notice things (in a financial zombie state) I was actually living less than I am now that I'm completely aware of my finances and going through a plan of getting them sorted. Being more aware has just made me feel like I'm more present in my daily life?

Good luck with your quest. I'll look out for your diary and subscribe to offer support along the way.

Thanks Freeby. It almost feels unreal, but very exciting. When I first started this diary I really believed my outgoings were far more than my incomings and wondered how I'd manage. As it turns out my outgoings were only so much more based on bank charges and frittering it all away on things I didn't want or need.:o

This weekend went by so fast. On Saturday I visited my friend who I usually meet in London. This time I drove up to her house and we had a proper catch up. Her relationship is still going really well and there's a noticeable difference in how she talks to me and treats me overall. She's so much calmer and nicer which is probably because she's so much happier.

Yesterday was a potter type day. I didn't put much stuff on eBay as I'd quite like a few days break from it. I did organise a box of things to put up and took some photos so either later this week or next weekend it's all ready to go.

I was also getting quite excited at the prospect of starting my mortgage pay off mission, but then I had a proper look around my house, including the exterior and there's a bit of work that needs doing. My roof is looking very sorry for itself and with the heavy rains and winds we get I think that needs to be looked at before I plough money onto the mortgage. I feel quite disappointed, but at least I'm now at the stage where I can save to have things fixed rather than wondering how I'll get the money together. I think I'll also get some internal work sorted as well so that should hopefully take me to a big mortgage push from 1st January. In the meantime I'll have a more secure and weather proof home and should also be able to fix the reason why my house is so freezing cold in winter. I can't find any holes or obvious reasons why by myself. Luckily my neighbours know a trusted roofer and I know a fantastic builder so that's a major worry off my mind. I tend to have issues with workmen due to living on my own and being genuinely friendly to anyone who comes into my home!!!!

My challenge to stay on top of the outgoings is working out well. Lots of payments flew from my account today and it's now all listed and reconciled on my app and my spreadsheet is up to date too.

    Happy July everyone! x

Just catching up and wanted to say

:j :j :j Well Done! :j :j :j you are so near being able to draw a line under the whole debt repayment era! That's fantastic! Party it is then. ;)

Getting the work done on the house is MS, you know. Saves on bigger holes in the roof later, etc., and of course once the mortgage overpayment chapter is over you will want the house to be in great condition. So maybe think of repairs as 'Project Home', Part 1, with Part 2 being mortgage overpayments?

Just sooo pleased for you. :)

Thanks Miggy. Projects 1 and 2 are a great way of looking at it. I'll do that! But, it also means that until I start overpaying my mortgage I can stay here a little longer too! Wooh to that! :D

That was my excuse too. ;):D

I will therefore be torn between cheering you on and encouraging you to pay off your mortgage as slowly as possible. :D I don't see why DF, MF people shouldn't stay on though - it's still ab out Money Saving (some of the time).
