Thanks LG,
A day of two of less contact did the trick <this needs a rolls eyes smiley!>0 -
Things are still nice and quiet, although it's the long awaited overtime extra pay day today. I came away with an extra £800 roughly after tax, which was pretty much what I was hoping for. So, I have phoned the default debt company with my silly offer and they've said .... Ha ha - try again!
The offer is far too low apparently.
But, my "case worker" is going to call me (I have a case worker????)Then we can see if we can negotiate a deal. They asked about the equity in my house, and I fibbed!!!! But I didn't expect the question and I don't feel it's any of their business either (plus I never discuss my financial situation in that sort of detail so I have a barrier when it comes to discussing actual figures with anyone). But they can probably do a little digging and find out the situation so I'll see if I get my wrist slapped if I get the call back. At 9am I was promised a call, and nothing yet, but we shall see what happens.
I was literally shaking when I had to make the call though, so although I still went ahead and phoned, I'm definitely not over the intimidation feelings of calling a company I owe money to! I'm pleased I took a breath and called though. That's progress.
Until I know the lowest they'll accept from me I can't do much on paying certain bills today as everything is based on what their offer is. Some bills I overpay on, like the community charge, to get it out of the way faster, although I could probably pay minimal on everything and slot the rest away ready for when I have enough to pay this all off. I think that's the best idea.
Last night I completely updated my phone app and reconciled it with my bank account so my challenge this month is to keep on top of it and keep it permanently reconciled. On working out mortgage overpayments/investments that I'll need to get started I found that I will need to be completely organised in my finances. So now is a very good time to start working on that so that it's just habit for mortgage op paying times.
Paying minimum payments today feels right so I'll get onto that shortly and I'll put the overtime extra away so that I know it's allocated and out of my account, but easy to put back in if I get a positive outcome from the default debt.
I need to get some shopping this evening and I need petrol for my trip to see my friend tomorrow but all should keep me within budget. A spendy day today and tomorrow, but it's necessary spends so I'm ok with that.
After stating that being quiet with A for a couple of days is working he's just amended our lunch date to be a quick coffee! Then the next time he's free to see me is for lunch next Thursday!!!!!! Really??? 1.5hours spare in 2 weeks???? Hmmm, let me think !!!!
No!
On a good note, I received 2 surveys today. One took me around 10 minutes and gave me an instant £5 Amazon voucher. The other took another 10 minutes and have told me they'll send me a reward in a few days of a £2 bonds voucher.
I should also have now paid off my cycle to work voucher that I picked up last June. I've not had my letter yet, but have calculated that I've now paid the full amount so should get a letter this month from my Firm with a purchase offer. Last time it was £25 to buy and £40 to return and I'm really hoping it's the same again. I know the rules keep changing but my company have been very generous in only asking minimal final pay out in the past. So next month's pay should be slightly higher than previous months.
I'm low on ebay and amazon fodder online, although one of my ebay items is currently on £18 so I'm happy with that. Sunday I will be digging out books and other stuff to get my on sale items back up to a decent level.
I think that's everything for now. I feel slightly up in the air with things until I know if I'm debt free or not!But I've still got a nice little bit of a cash to put away for debt savings/mortgage ops, so all is still good with the world.
I hope everyone is having a great day. x0 -
Hope you get a good deal from your 'case worker' Muffin.
RE A.....I guess just carry on enjoying your life let him contact you. Best case scenario he is just caught up with things or something on his mind so needs space, worst case he may be cooling down, in which case it isnt worth your time anyway!
Is he quite open, would he tell you if there was something bothering him, about your relationship or his personal life?
I made the mistake of shocking hungry the other day, I only popped out for cream cheese too, for our pasta. Was quite annoyed at myself!
xx40 to go0 -
A is very open and I've outright asked him if everything is ok with he and I and he assures me it is. But, being so low on his list of priorities is something I've always regretted putting up with in previous relationships so this time I'm refusing to accept it. If he liked me he'd want to see me. If he wanted to see me he'd find time for me. I feel it really is that simple.
It's good to hear I'm not the only person who needs to eat before they shopIt's frustrating, isn't it? Especially as the foods I did buy had very little nutrition in them!

Well my "case worker" has called me back and they've offered me a great deal. I can't afford it today but they've kept it open until the last day in July. I get paid the last working day so will be able to clear it then. The great thing is July's standard payment (which comes out on 2nd July) will be included in the settlement figure. So that works out perfectly for me.
There is a credit file implication, and that is that they note that it's not paid in full, but a partial payment was accepted. But, they first stamped these issues on my credit file in 2007, so it will naturally fall off next year anyway, so I'm not too concerned for the amount I'll save.
So I'm a very happy person right now! Just need to tweak the spreadsheet a little and then I'll know what can go where.
What a great end to the day, week, month!!!!

Hi MT
What fabulous news, we should have an online party when its all paid :beer:
Thank you for the lovely PM. It really did make me think about whats right for me. My DD mentioned (again) the other day that I have promised to take her to London next year (she will be 12) to do all the sight seeing. Will have to bend your ear about somewhere nice (and cheap) to stay for the weekend. I came down when it was Live 8 but stayed near the Excel centre. I think that would be a bit far out for just the two of us.
Sorry to hear that A has backed off again. What is it with men?? I have made a decision to stay single now and I'm happy with that. I think my happiest time was when I was single for three years lol.
Will catch up again Sunday and thanks again.
Lil

hello!
all exciting your end debt wise then! you must be so thrilled! i'm wondering about doing a full and final offer - i'm going to have a read on here about what it means though, my defaults roll of in 2014 I don't want to do anything that will screw my credit for another 6 years...
As for A - your coming to the end of a hard slog and the begining of a whole new start - you don't need the drama of wondering whats going on, why its happening, I know its easy to say from the outside looking in - but look what you acheived - ON YOUR OWN - I'd take a step back yourself as see what happens fill your life with your friends and if he sorts himself out all well and good - if he doesn't - you'll hardly notice!
well done you looking forward to seeing your name on the roll of honour I feel like that is soo far in the future for me - I wish I was you right now - your life goes a bit on hold during all this - your about to restart yours - you must be thrilled!LBM: £18,426.870 -
