Has the weekend really been and gone already? Eek!
Friday evening I cycled home and I think I can feel my fitness improving as it wasn't nearly as big a struggle. I probably just had a kind tailwind but, at this stage, I'll take what I can.
Saturday I was up at 4am for the boot sale. The weather was perfect, although the event itself was very quiet. There were a fair amount of sellers, but not many buyers out. I would have thought that it would be packed out with people wanting or needing bargains. But, despite how quiet it was, and how much tat we had, we still made £50 each. So we took around £110 as we had to pay for the pitch and we never include that in our profits tally. So that £50 went straight into my sealed pot. So, that's another space cleared out and ready to be filled in again with more fodder.
Saturday afternoon I decided on a trip to Asda as a change. I've started giving myself a £5 lunch limit for the week and it was easy to come in on that with their bargains so I have lots of lunch food again this week for a good price. I believe that it's the lunches I'm making each day which helped me feel the bike journey is easier.
Yesterday I had a potter around in the morning and then went to see A in the afternoon. He made me lunch when I arrived and we cooked dinner together later. Generally it was a very chilled out afternoon which I really enjoyed. He is such good company although I did whitter on about nothing for far too long!
When I left he'd filled a tupperware pot with veggies and noodles for me to have for my lunch today! Also some vitamins and a couple of DVD sets. I was really chuffed with the packed lunchso I've got that with me today. Free food yesterday and free lunch today and all made for me. I feel almost spoiled!
As well as the boot sale, things are still selling reasonably well on ebay. Even things I don't think have a chance of selling are going. But I'm starting to get a few more awkward buyers who are draining the enthusiasm. There are also a lot of bidders out there who just don't pay. I genuinely don't mind if someone's changed their mind as we all do it, but it would be nice if they'd tell me so I can quickly relist it again.
So, this is my last week before the overtime payday. Fortunately I'm not with any of the banks having technical hitches so my money should be showing in my account on Friday. I can't wait to see how much there is and to get that call to the default debt out of the way. A very exciting week ahead.
I hope everyone had a great weekend x0 -
Well done on the £50 and the free lunches - a very productive weekend, and it sounds enjoyable too.Miggy

I have no intention of leaving here, although may have to move slightly to the MFW board??? Scary thoughts as I'm so happy here!0 -
This last week before payday always feels the most stressful for me regarding my accounts. I've checked my bank account and I have sufficient in there for the one bill that's due but I act like I must write cheques in my sleep and sleepwalk to the nearest post box as I just constantly worry that something else is going to hit the account and make me overdrawn.
I did very well all day yesterday not spending anything, having a free lunch and just generally being frugal, but when i got home I wanted some cream cheese to go on the bagels I bought on saturday. So I popped to the local shop! £7.45 later I now have a fresh reminder of why you shouldn't go shopping when hungry! All of it will last and be used, but even so..... Not much of it was particularly healthy either. So, I need to be more organised again.
Today I'm determined to do better, but it's the evenings that are harder. I have lots in now though so I'll probably be on here tomorrow complaining about an unhealthy binge!
Things with A seem to have taken a sudden turn. He's just pretty much ignoring me and being generally distant, not answering the phone and taking ages to reply to messages. When he does eventually reply there's just 2 or 3 words. I've sent a "hello, how are you?" text message today and will leave it at that as I can really feel a distance now and I don't want to be annoying. I'm genuinely not worried if things have cooled for him, but I don't like the vague attitude. I'll just sit tight and see what happens.
I was meant to visit my friend in London again this weekend. The one who likes to judge me for not having a great deal of surplus cash. But we've decided that it will be better this time if I drive up and visit her. Her life has taken a major turn with a man she's met and is so incredibly happy with, so we're meeting up for a girly gossip and catch up on things. The last time we met up she was fine and we had a good day so I'm hoping this is due to his influence and will continue. Maybe she just wasn't happy with where her life was before which made her come out with the insensitive comments. Who knows, and I don't really care that much if she's good company again this time.
On Sunday I think it's another ebay and clear out day at home. That's still going well and one of the buyers who was causing me issues has now said everything is fine, so that's good.
Oh, I've also decided to start repairing my credit report as I'm missing out on things like cashback current accounts etc. So, I've ordered an Aqua cashback credit card! Eek! I haven't worked out the rules of use exactly yet (my rules, not theirs) but when I do and am happy with those rules then I'll be happy to use it. I know I want to have the money aside as the bill arrives so that it's already paid for, but it's what to use it for. Petrol and food come out of my £10 daily budget. The only thing I can think is that when I put in petrol I'll generally put in £10 using a full day's budget. So, if I pay for this on the card and then put that £10 in an envelope it will all even itself out at the end of the month and I'll have sufficient funds to pay the card balance in full. I'm strict with my daily budget in that I don't borrow from other days so I'm sure that will work. I rarely feel the need to splash out these days, I think I have only felt that once this year? So, I'm confident this is the best way of rebuilding my credit status so that I can make the most of better offers out there on current accounts and savings accounts etc.
So, hopefully it's a calmer day today and no excess spends! I'll have to try to keep myself busy tonight so I don't decide to eat all the bad foods I bought yesterday! I definitely need to get myself organised! Where's my notebook for my lists!!!
I hope everyone is having a great day. x0 -
I'm pleased to report no spending binge or eating binge yesterday, as I genuinely expected. I did sit down to put more things on ebay but I feel a little disorganised with it all, so I'd like another regroup session this weekend so that I can clear out some rubbish and methodically sort out ebay items. I currently have around 15 things for sale (although only 2 with any bids and very little interest on the rest) so I've still enough on there to keep me happy, but as many things aren't being looked at then maybe I need to rethink my pricing or item wording.
Again, my bank account has been checked and there are no mysterious outgoings on there or listed as pending so I've just got to get through tomorrow and then I'll be paid.
Today's budget has disappeared already. I had lunch out with the 2 guys I work with and came away with absolutely no change. I do like the 3 of us going out though because although we sit together all day we don't spend much of the time chatting, so once a month I think it's worth blowing a day's budget on a lunch out. Not that long ago spending £10 a day on lunch and incidentals was a daily occurrence but now it's a conscious treat.
Not a great deal else to report really. I had a word with A about him being distant and he got a little defensive but is being a little better now.
So all quiet on the western front today! Which means that I need to liven my day up a little somehow so I have more interesting things to write about tomorrow. I'm cycling home tonight so I'll see if I can create some havoc on my journey! Or maybe not.... !!!0 -
