The weekend obviously flew by twice as fast as most weekends. The battery on my car is completely flat which I found out just as I was leaving, so I had to borrow a car to get me on my way, but that was the only dodgy drama I had. Once I'd arrived at my first desination it was all great from there.
Budget wise I started with £40 and toured toiletry shops and managed to get such a good deal on the things I needed that I only spent £15. Then I found a set of 3 books for £5 which I bought and came home with £20. The food and everything else was paid for at the hotel and I always take milk and water and other little extras (just because I'm fussy) so nothing else was needed for those.
But the weekend itself was fantastic. Really special. I felt quite spoiled and my friend made the whole day really about my birthday. From presents and cards in the morning, to a little treat while we were out, then back to the hotel for a massage she'd booked me and then a little present waiting in my bed for me for the very end fo the night. I wasn't allowed to even make a cup of tea. It makes me emotional just writing it.
Then 2 of my more expensive items sold on ebay and I was able to relist a couple of things that hadn't sold before through the free listing. I've moved the money from Paypal to my account but have kept a tiny bit behind for ebay final payment fees.
This week I'm off work and plan to put a few things on each day to make the most of being able to take photos in the daylight. Even if I take pictures of things that need to wait for another free listing, at least I'll be prepared.
I didn't sleep great while I was away. Aren't single beds tiny!!!! So I'm looking forward to my own bed tonight although I do feel very sad that the weekend away is done now. The great thing is the original weekend away I was bought was fully booked for this weekend so we still have that to look forward to. So, I'll be phoning and booking that tomorrow! Wooh!
Anyway, I hope everyone had a great weekend. xx0 -
I also received my CC bill in and all is on track there. It's £632 with an estimated £9.68 interest this month if I only pay the £20 minimum payment! I'll be paying £320 this month. I also need to check my spreadsheet as I think I've accounted the £120 comm charge to come out of this salary! If I have then I'll just pay that extra £120 onto the credit card to make sure I don't fritter it. Then I'll be ahead on my cc bill so able to pay less on that and pay the £120 extra on the Comm Charge.
I think I know what I mean here. Now, just have to check my spreadsheet! YAAAYYYY!0 -
Glad you had a brilliant weekend, you friend sounds so thoughtful!
I like to make a big deal out of birthdays, as most adults seem to 'grow out' of them, secretly though when I make a fuss they all love it, we are all children deep down!

Oh I love being off work! Today has been great based purely on waking naturally and then getting things done that I want to do at my own pace! Lovely!
I had 2 items to wrap and send from ebay sales. 3 things have sold but one person hasn't paid yet. They joined on Sunday though with an obvious 0 rating so I'm not holding my breath that they'll come through with payment. I've sent an invoice and really don't mind if they change their mind, I just like to know what's going on.
So, the 2 items are now off my hands and winging their way to their new owners. Both items were excited to leave me as they're bored with hanging in the wardrobe doing nothing and are hoping they'll now get out into the fresh air again!
I've also made the most of the daylight by going through more cycling things and taking better photos of them. I have quite a lot to list, although I am thinking of storing them all up and putting things on sunday evening when there are more buyers around. As long as I get things prepared and photographed I think that might be the better option.
My next mission will be to tackle the amount of books I currently own and never use or have any likelihood of using. I've put my online book selling account on holiday mode so I could just go through the inventory and add lots of stuff and get that properly organised.
I'm off to Brighton for the day tomorrow so am hoping the weather will be good. I have to buy a new car battery first thing and then I'll travel up from there. They have a huge £ shop there so I think I'll stock up on book sized bubble envelopes and more brown wrapping paper.
Another thing I'd like to do is have a proper clear out of my kitchen cupboards and work out exactly what I have and what sell by dates are on things. I'm always struggling for space in my cupboards so maybe this can now be resolved.
Right, food talk has reminded me that I'm hungry! Operation declutter freezer can now commence!
I hope everyone is loving this unseasonably warm February weather. x0 -
I think I ended up spending more yesterday on a day out than I had for my weekend away!!!! Oh well, it was a lovely day and I had budgeted for it. I also managed to find the money for my car battery from my marketing budget (that I'd put a bit extra aside for) so nothing lost there.
So today I need to change the battery in my car so that I'm mobile again. I've tinkered around on my spreadsheet and then paid £440 onto my old debt card (£320 was budgeted already and £120 I'd budgeted for comm charge one month too early - so I decided the interest saved on the card would be better than popping it aside in my savings). This means there's about £200 left on that card now so I'm excited to get that bill through at the end of the month as it'll be my last payment.
Two of my expensive items on sale online have a bid on them by the same person which is due to end on Sunday. Very excited about another clear area. Today I need to iron some items to photo and put online but I'll be doing that later.
I have phoned about the Business Foundation Account I tell others about to see if they'll accept me opening a business account with some 5 year old satisfied CCJ's. Trouble is, my head was so far in the sand that when I paid them I didn't bother getting them settled on my credit rating accounts. I've explained that and I think they're all very minimal amounts, but we'll see what happens. I can't do much on advertising until I know I can accept standing orders. What a lovely person I spoke to though who knew what he was doing. I like it when that happens and sadly it stands out as I don't seem to get that a lot.
I'm tempted to leave the car today and just do a lot indoors and get some more clutter to pose for their pictures. That seems to be where my priorities are right now and I think i should make the most of that feeling as I often read that people get bored with the whole online selling thing.
Do I really need to ever go back to work or can I find enough sheit in my house to keep me self sufficient for another few months at least????0
