Thanks Mrs Chip and Fuddle,
I'll not tell my landlord in case he does not like one being in the house but I cannot see any difference to using a gas cooker and besides until you connect the canisters, how are they going to do any harm. If I stay here I have access to an outhouse so it could be stored kind of outside. But it looks a good deal...now if I can remember or retrieve my paypal account details and how to get back on ebay...I have only ordered one item from there so I forgotten what they are."A government afraid of its citizens is a Democracy. I'd rather spend it whilst I can and have some, then I have all I will need to survive the future..."A government afraid of its citizens is a Democracy. Citizens afraid of government is tyranny!" ~Thomas Jefferson

We use ours up in the garden to boil the kettle for tea and now and again an al fresco fry-up
. Mr C can work it on his own, so anyone can :rotfl:. We find the gas lasts ages, but we have only got a little kettle!

I wouldn't worry too much about the LL, the canisters are only the same as those used in blow-torches etc, unless they are specifically mentioned in your contract.
Have a look at the options in Ebay - I searched 'camping stove' there are couple a bit cheaper with the 8 cannisters, and some that are a lot cheaper without cannisters, and you can get those cheaper separately.Think big thoughts but relish small pleasures0 -
Not sure where the agreement is but I doubt they'll be bothered if its as you suggest more like gas used in a blow torch. Besides would they tell a cook as seen on tv who gets his blow torch out to do some fancy recipe:p
I know they dislike those calor gas portable heaters but these are nothing like that..."A government afraid of its citizens is a Democracy. Citizens afraid of government is tyranny!" ~Thomas Jefferson

You can get cheaper stoves than the one Mrs C linked to but that variant is very stable, another here http://www.simplyhike.co.uk/products/Campingaz/CampBistro.aspx.
If you are not used to cooking on camping stoves you might want to avoid ones like this http://www.simplyhike.co.uk/products/Campingaz/BleuetCV300Stove.aspx
I (cough) have several but then I do camp. I have a very lightweight back-packer for walking weekends, a more solid (acquired) job for stationary trips and a proper set for places where there are few shops.
When I shared a house, I arrived home to find desparate housemates trying to operate in the dark in a house which only had electric heating etc. I found the torch, legged it upstairs and grabbed candles and cookers.
If you need to use the burner indoors and have a stainless steel draining board - that is a good place to set up.
Ten minutes later we had lights, hot tea and the fire was lit. Then I made soup so we had supper. If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0 -
Thanks for mentioning putting it on the stainless steel draining board. That bit of info is stored up there and shall be drawn upon should I need it0

He does it at a reasonable price but if money gets tighter it could be a problem...and as he's older himself I don't know how much more another person would charge...
The problem is if I had not had to bail son out a couple of months ago and so give him my gardening money plus more I would not be in this miss, my gardener would be earning and I would have nice tidy garden, but I just do not have it to pay out now as what I gave him was money to go for other things that had to still be paid.
After my mum expecting me to do everything I admit I brought my kids up thinking mum was invincible and can do everything and never ever needs help and even now with my health problems they cannot accept I need help - if I ask I get told oh you can manage you always do.
Hubby on other hand is known to be helpless and so kids run after him and never expect him to lift a finger and he has had me running after him for well over 30 years and still expects me to manage now, although now have got him carrying and lifting things in house for me - like taking washing up or down stairs ( he doesn't like what I do which is to throw the dirty washing down to bottom of stairs then kick it into kitchen, but needs must if he is not around. He will carry anything outside when shopping and humph bags of compost, soil etc in garden, just don't ask him to actually do work out there. He is doing all he can to talk me out of gardening and get all garden paved over to him that is ideal, mind you he would live in a flat like a shot, I would hate that, to many bad memories from childhood when we lived in a flat all mixed together.
Am hoping I got a real bargain - went to greenfingers to see if they had any of the blue slug pellets in stock as am totally out now and found some for 1p for 800g in sale - discovered to get more than one you had to go back and click again and again, and it let me do this up to 10 times but then would not recognise my postcode and had that before when ordered something that was only around £1 in a sale ( that item even with the pp was still a very good bargain), their crafty way of making you spend more, so added in another of the same make but dearer r £2.59 but still could not get order to go through so took them out put others ones in for £3.99 which have had before and are good and hey pesto suddenly they could find my postcode and so whole order including pp came to £8.89.....so they accepted the order but as yet have not taken the money so waiting to see if someone notices what I have done and cancels the order or lets it go through - if it does I reckon 11 tubs of organic slug pellets ( 9000g) for £8.89 is the best bargain I am likely to find this year.....
Had to pop out to Tescos to pick up some curtains for hubby's room I paid for via click and collect - never used the service till this week when someone posted about cheap fleeces in the preparing for winter thread and I bought 12 altogether and so ended up with 4 each of one colour ( which considering I bought them in two lots is fantastic) for just under £30, and actually nice fleeces and fairly thick and perfect for lining my curtains. Also been wanting some decent curtains for hubbys room as he still had the pink hearts ones up from granddaughter when she used to use it and found some faux sik ones fully lined in a eau de nil colour with a gold stripe near on edge for £6. They are dry clean only but should get away with only needing to do it every few years in his room as he only uses it to sleep so long as they get vacumned regularly to remove dust. So that was a price that suited me - would love something like that in my room but with the dogs and me in here so much and my hands doing their own thing like shaking a cup of tea so tea ends up all over the curtains I need washable ( although they are a heavy velvet they wash up brilliantly) and there is nothing what so ever wrong with them although they are about 35 years old - one of the things left from our weathier days. They are a pale green so go with anything at all.
On way back called in at garden centre on off chance they had any blue pellets and they had % tubs, but so much dearer £3.99 for 250g but needs must so bought 3 as all I had money for, so that should do me until hopefully greenfingers order comes - usually takes about 2 - 3 weeks if I don't pay to go to front of queue. So fingers crossed can keep the slugs at bay a bit longer till plants are ready to harvest as still been very lucky not lost any yet - mind you not checked today, but did put last pellets around the vegetable beds yesterday, will go and put more round as soon as rested.
Och just remembered granddaughter should be over soon, she is off tomorrow and was going to Camelot with school today so said she would be over afterwards and stay the weekend - promised her pizza tomorrow and it has to be from Iceland and none in, but thankfully do have enough to buy some as was thinking when bought the pellets don't need any more money till next week as bought everything, have Drs Monday but as hubby off he will take me as next money is Tuesday and that is mainly earmarked for bills........so will get hubby to call in there on way home tomorrow.......we plan to take her out on Sunday if nice but will take a picnic with, filled up car on Tuesday in readiness....just hope it doesn't rain to much as plan to use my mobility scooter
hugs, love and healing xxxxNeed to get back to getting finances under control now kin kid at uni as savings are zilch

DH is fishing tonight. Stupid man. It means a tea of cheese on toast for us because only do a big meal for him. Been told to add a splash of worcester sause on it so going to try it.
I've heard adding something like Worcester sauce can make quite a difference:)"A government afraid of its citizens is a Democracy. Citizens afraid of government is tyranny!" ~Thomas Jefferson

We've had a nice day here if a wee bit odd. Mostly a bright luminous mist then for a while the sun came out and it was HOT - but I'm flat on the couch and don't really care.
