GQ - don't know how you feel about internet shopping but have a look at this:

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/Belledorm-Brushed-Cotton-Flannelette-Fitted/dp/B003IV6VT2/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1323420513&sr=8-5

I know it's difficult to be sure of quality when buying this way, but worth a thought.

  • GQ I am a bit of a lurker here, but am a huge fan of flannelette sheets, bought a couple of duvet covers from JL ( didn't know there was such a thing!) But the rest of my stash were bought from Yorkshire Linen Company, who have shops ( up in Yorkshire of course) They also have an online shop.

Even though they have a shop, I have bought on line because they often have stock that the shops don't.

House of Bath ( on line) and Scots of Stow (on line) also sell them ( or used to) but I find the Yorkshire Linen company stuff to be good quality and good value compared to others.
    HTH?

  • GreyQueen - have you tried Dunelm Mill? They have two types of brushed cotton bedding (the slightly dearer ones are lovely). I think they had flat sheets as well as fitted

  • I've just paid £170 for a boiler & gas fire service . Can't find last years invoice, & know I didn't have the fire done as we will only be using it this year but I'm sure it wasn't anywhere near as much. The water softening thingy was also changed. I can remember being superorganized one year & getting NPower to do it in the summer for about £65, but I've been trying to support the local independent for the last few years, as I have been with shopping etc.

GQ - I listened to the R4 programme about Greece & it was heartbreaking. Was it the Greece social security minister who was crying as she was trying to explain what would be cut?

Did anyone see "Inside Job" about the US dicing & slicing of debts & how we all got into this mess? I'm cross as I wanted to see it, but somehow after a glass of red & a sit down under fleece blankets I managed to nod off after 15 mins :D. I may fanny about with the iplayer, but I seem to remember lots of graphs which I may struugle to make out on my smaller laptop screen. Anyone catch it & was it interesting?

Although all the talk of crises is making me want to go back to bed, so on a lighter note -

Xmas Radio Times - does anyone else get annoyed with the holiday bit in the middle? The first thing I do is rip this out before I've read anything :rotfl:

Hope all those in Scotland/N. England are OK - sounded grim on the news this morning.
And I find that looking back at you gives a better view, a better view...

:) Thanks Lizzy, I've just had a quick shufti and it's a fitted sheet (and thus banned from Mum's household as she loathes the things). Price is very keen, but I really like to touch textiles before I buy.

Thank you anyway- someone else who browsed by may be pleased to see it as well.:)

Sorry, wrong linky - there are flat ones as well but I rather thought you were a try-before-you-buy gal anyway - like me :D

It's well worth watching. It is on BBC iplayer.

    Morning :)

Hope all is a bit calmer up in the northern quarter today. Was very windy here overnight, but only the bucket I keep under the overflow had blown anywhere.

Thanks for the FB pie info GQ - as you haven't died after reheating I'll put them on the shopping list :D

Quiet indoor day today as I've woken up with sore joints and am going to a friend's for tea later. Need to finish my Christmas present shopping tomorrow (online - no way am I going into town ) and finish making my cards and presents that I'm making.

Have a fabulous day everyone

Ooooh, I love my flannelette fitted sheet on my king-sized bed, my grandparents probably turn in their graves to see me putting fitted sheets on, as they were both nurses and loved a good hospital corner, but I'm a lazy modern gal and have never learned!
