    Morning All.

Wet and blowing a gale here :(. I knew buying sun loungers was a foolish enterprise - wall to wall rain all summer guaranteed!. I use the jet stream predictions to give me an idea about what the weather will be like - not looking good for June :(:(:(. Let's hope it is wrong!

Well all my chicken special sold last night, I just don't know if it was worth all the effort to make it. Yet again we were far busier than anticipated, and within 10 mins of opening had committed all our wet fish for the evening. We are going to have to find a better way of doing things, it is just too manic as things are. Not complaining, but there must be a better system. We are going to see the camp site owner today to agree our summer schedules, perhaps we can work out a better ordering system (people staying on the camp seem to like being able to order upfront).

It does not help when you have an OH that is never wrong:mad: He knew the gas for the fryers was due to run out, so we were ready to do a quick changeover to the other gas, and duly did so. But when the temperature started to drop he was adamant it was nothing to do with him, and what could he do? There was me with orders stacked and cold pans. He then deigned to go and check and surprise surprise, he had not turned the gas back on properly. Lesson learned I hope (not holding my breath though!). I guess we are both learning (fast) but he does not seem to have grasped that there is no room for egos in a small van!

I hope everyone has a good day, and are not 'battered' by the wind too much !

Ooh,so many posts since I started to write mine :rotfl:.

Fuddle - you know you are doing the right thing for your family, and keeping the negativity at arms length will hopefully work. I am constantly amazed at the bald-faced cheek of family who think blood is a good enough reason to belittle other people (for their own good of course!). It's not, and don't let anyone tell you different!

Smiley - surely a woman of your calibre, able to see off flashers and serial attacks of the glad-eye can put this stripling right? Woman up and start wielding a metaphorical pinny and rolling pin - the boy needs to learn that the kitchen is not a place for slovenly ways, he can keep them for his bedroom! A good stern talking to followed up by a relocation of said unwashed pots to bedroom should surely teach him the error of his ways?

shelly - Drs often refer to weight tables that appear to make people overweight/obese when in fact they are a reasonable weight for their height/build (not in my case :( ) . If OH is not carrying excess weight, or has a tum (is he a muscly hunk ? ;), it might be worth getting a second opinion. Eating healthily is good, but dieting for no reason is not. Was he told how much he needed to lose?

  • FUDDLE - Do you think it would help to have Mum and Sister to visit separately as they might 'feed off each other' when it comes to criticism of you. If they came singly it might give you less pressure and you would feel more in control of the situation. I know how difficult relationships with relatives can become and feel that they are being very unfair to you. There are many rooms in everyones lives and how you choose to set out yours is only your business. It may never occur to them that they are wrong and they may see the interference as being for your benefit not realising just how much it has the opposite effect. We are always here for you and consensus of opinion says you are a person to be looked up to, who is level headed, caring, careful and doing the very best that you can for your family and yourself. Keep the faith and don't let them undermine your aims and ambitions - one day they might just have to acknowledge your superiority!!!!!(My day came when very critical parent ran out of money and had to come cap in hand for a loan - not surprisingly the criticism slowed down after that!) Bless you Cheers Lyn xxx.

Mrs Chip - sounds like you need to get an advance orders system worked out, and that way you should be able to put in the right amount of effort each time. Could the campsite have a system where they email orders through to e.g. By midday? If you have to place your fish orders before then you could let them know how many portions of what you have, so they can stop taking orders when something runs out. Hopefully you can have specials that are more flexible (I.e. You make them from freezer stuff on the same day so can do more) so that everyone who wants to eat can have something!

It sounds like you're doing well, and I'm sure you'll come up with solutions, including to OH :D

Have a good 'un and don't forget your brollies, it's a bit black over Will's Mother's.

Ohhh I haven't heard anyone else use that phrase for years! Our version is "It's black over John's mother's" though! My old gran used to say it all the time (which indicates a bit of what our weather was like back then, despite rose-tinted memories of golden summers )

Well, I am peering sadly out of the window at a rain-sodden Friday. Good thing I have my rag rug project to keep me out of mischief (well, actually I should be doing housework :o). Hope any people in storm zones are safe and hope everyone is well.

Looks like I might finish this rag rug before the weekend is over, if the weather carries on!

VJsmum, Your poor dad must be so confused, hope they sort it out quickly.

I went to the Pain Management Clinic on Monday and had acupuncture for my pain, but about 20 mins later I feeled so sick and light headed. So they got me to lay down for about 30 mins and then sent me home. I was okay for a couple of days but now I feel sick again also light headed although I do suffer from vertago so dont know whats going on there hope it passes soon.
It has been bucketing down here for the last two days, feels like winter is already here , its cold wet and miserable.
    Take care everyone.

I am thinking along those lines Greenbee. My plan was to have an online ordering system anyway (when we first started to think about this as a business), but not sure what the access is like at the camp. I can certainly email the menus/specials to the camp as soon as I know what they are, so that they can go up somewhere, then orders could be placed by phone beforehand. Just got to think through the logistics! As for OH.....

Oh Chip :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: Oh god nearly lost my tea - mental visions of me and the RV sharing a busy chipvan :eek::eek:
Fuddle, one thing I've learned in a lifetime of being "different" :D - don't waste time explaining yourself.Walk your own path and when people try to be smart - which they seem to love doing - just smile and clam up.
I got laughed at when I passed my bike test at 40, got a Yamaha, and started going up the back roads in the hills cleaning houses - but there was no work then and I needed the money, and I soon had more work than I could handle.
I got laughed at when I went back to my tarot reading and even more when I found that I could be a medium. You'd never believe how people like to sneer at that stuff :D - but I just kept quiet and got on with it.
People are like a herd of coos - if you do anything different then they all form a circle and GAWP :D Shoo them away pet !

Everybody on here is loaded with good strong commonsense, I do love that.
