Ah Ha! So it's YOUR fault!! And after I resisted getting a new gazebo too!
:D It's actually my Mum's fault. She bought a huge umbrella for the patio table about 15 years ago and we haven't had a decent summer since.:rotfl:The brolly lives in her loft under the eaves. In close proximity to the sun-lounger, as a matter of fact.

Mar - Coos, yes that is exactly what people are like :rotfl: You and RV sound like me and OH, so no don't think about it! Not good for the blood pressure! Can you predict who will win ?:rotfl:

I am only too happy to share the blame - don't want to be greedy!

Ooh,so many posts since I started to write mine :rotfl:.

shelly - Drs often refer to weight tables that appear to make people overweight/obese when in fact they are a reasonable weight for their height/build (not in my case :( ) . If OH is not carrying excess weight, or has a tum (is he a muscly hunk ? ;), it might be worth getting a second opinion. Eating healthily is good, but dieting for no reason is not. Was he told how much he needed to lose?

I think you might be right, he has a little tum but it's not massive. He used to be a County swimmer so he still has quite a well built upper half. He's 5'10 and takes a medium in most men's clothes. Dr didn't say how much he needed to lose, it was the last appointment of the day and I think he might have been a bit ratty :rotfl:

Thanks all - we'll see what has been happening later and whether I need to go down and be one of "those" women.

The marking marathon is over :j Very intensive and not tons of sleep but it's done and the marks are in. Just a couple of smaller bits to finish and that's it for a while. Even July resits shouldn't be such a massive pile.

Got a man coming to measure me up in a bit (oo err) for the new conservatory roof. Marking marathon means that house is nowhere near tidy, but they are going to have to put up with it. Thought I'd get rid of breakfast stuff, but dishwasher is full and needs emptying, so I thought I'd wash it by hand, draining board is full. So, stuff it, it is staying on the side. There is washing everywhere - clean and dirty and wet and dry. I think I will be having a house day later :p

    Morning all :)

Well, today is my last Friday off as I start my new job next week (working Thurs/Fri full days), so baking then visiting my sister this afternoon. Littlies are bouncing off the walls as they're stuck inside due to carp weather. Doubt I'll be much (if any) better off with this job, but I have to try and see if it will work for us. If not, I won't have lost anything - we could still manage without that money - been OS all my life in one way or another so know how to make the pennies stretch!

The grown-up children who often cause me lots of grief are rearing their heads again; DS pleading problems with work so he has to go in and no one to watch DGS, and yet another letter from debt collection agency came for him, everything getting worse and very tired of all the BS and lies! :( DD been sulking for weeks, not talking to us as we refuse to let her have her own way, give in to her financial demands, agree with whatever she says (sigh!), now texting again to ask if I'm busy - fishing expedition before she gears herself up again for a fight! See, fuddle, you're not the only one with family issues! (and I've only given the bare bones - full disclosure would make everyone's hair curl!) :D If I told them how hard it really was for DH and me, and other family problems, I'd like to think it would shut them up, but not hopeful! They go around with blinkers on and think the world (and me!) owes them everything.

....and breathe! Off to bake now, determined to have a NSD today as I've overspent this month and I promised to take biccies or something to sister's this afternoon.

Do have a half decent day - a lot of us seem to have heavy loads at the mo.

Just heard that elderly neighbour (91) has been the victim of a telephone scam.
A company rang her up and sold her some herbal remedies for £365, she gave them her card details. Her daughter and grandaughter are trying to sort it out, but are worried that since the company delivered the goods, there's been no fraud involved.
    Only moral!!!!
How disgusting is that, to prey on vulnerable people who aren't in good health.
I'm hopping mad, her daughter's incandescent, rightly so.
    Normal people worry me.

Hobsons choice ring the trading standards office, It is likely this is not the first time and they need a record to get a successful prosecution. The more people that report them the better.

    Morning all :)

VJsmum I hope there is some improvement in your Dad's condition. I've done my share of fighting with the people in charge with regards to my former neighbour and know how frustrating it is. Good luck and don't worry about the workmen. I'm sure they have seen much worse. I had to tell the police that the burglars hadn't made the mess in the house and that it was like it beforehand. (Just for the record I'm talking about piles of papers and masses of cables in the living room, not a 3 foot deep pile of rubbish)

Mrs Chip You are a brave woman. There is no way I could work with DH. I'd end up battering him and trying to fit him in the fryer.

Hobsons Choice It's sickening when things like that happen. Can she reject the goods and return them? Then she should be able to do a chargeback on the card if she doesn't get a refund.

Dee2012 I hope you feel better very soon :)

Today is yet another wet and cold day here. It is so depressing. I'm still craving winter food. I ended up making raspberry steamed sponge and custard for pudding last night for goodness sake. I think we will have toad in the hole for dinner tonight.
At some point I might put my wellies on and go and see if I can pick up a copy of Snuff. Then again I might just go back to bed and wait for the rain to stop, which means I might get out again sometime next year.
Oh well, I think I'll go and make some spicy soup to warm myself up. I think I have a bag of red lentils lurking somewhere.

Take care and stay warm and dry xxxx

Cheapsake your son and daughter sound like my daughter and youngest son. Better not say more as wouldn't know how to stop just with daughter its not financial but is with son. Older son wants us to move to Australia he has applied to become a citizen there and I admit there are times when I just want to leave the other two to get on without us, might make them stand on their own two feet, but its their children that have stopped me even considering it up till now, but we are thinking when dogs go ( they are 2 x 14 and 13 years) we might seriously consider it, we are going to go to an exhibition about moving there later in the year to look into the option. Don't want to move right by son, in fact I would want to move to far less humid part and can keep in touch with the grandchildren online, phone,BBM etc.

Well had blood taken by the nice vampires this morning - got there at 8.30am and was number 17 and they didn't start till 9.10am. Boy did I enjoy my cuppa when I eventually got it at 11am - had to go and buy milk and picked up some more soap for stock cupboard as hubby opened that last pack we had plus a few cartons of long life milk, just two of each but at least its a start.

It was bucketing down when I went out this morning but by time I came out of doctors it had stopped and since then just had occasional spits and spots so might go out and start dismantling the old greenhouse ready for when new one arrives, with greenfingers you never know sometimes I have had order next day and other times its nearly 3 weeks.

Jeepers I better move as starting to feel tired again - got up at 5am today and not felt to bad at all up till now, so will go and move...........

Hugs, Love and healing to allxxxxxxx

SDG - don't think it hasn't crossed my mind ;). I am sick of being told I am nagging and a control freak simply because I am trying to ensure the van is clean, the food is served properly and our customers are kept happy. I am also getting fed up with being told how hard it is to take orders. serve and keep the order tabs in the right time order, and that he can only do one thing at a time

I think it's time we swapped roles!
