Fuddle,so many people have already said what I would in response to your situation,so will add my support and a hug:A.Your children particularly will be so proud of you when grown up,and thank you for all the great preparation for life survival skills.
Well, regarding the cat-have called him Jack as in 'Jack the Lad'-I haven't seen him for a few days.He has definitely got me in his clutches because I've been worrying about him in this awful weather.I wonder if he's playing hard to get?:rotfl:Have been sitting in the rain in our communal flat garden, tin opener in one hand and a tin of salmon and umbrella in the other(why waste a treat!)for about half an hour several times a day.If I'd any sense,I'd know he's probably hiding out the rain, but I'd hate to think he's hungry! He's probably playing me like a nice, juicy mouse:D
Can I have a crisps addiction? I did the demotivator test and was embarrassed by how much I gobble-worse than Mardatha's sweeties.:) Decided to stop eating them except for once a week as a treat.I'm not dieting,I just thought with food being so expensive,no nutrition from said crisps,I should make an effort to stop.Much harder than I thought!Maybe some clever person could invent withdrawal patches like nicotine replacement-a tiny patch shaped like a bag of crisps?-have decided to put the cash aside I would have spent on multi-packs in a jar and use to keep store cupboard stocked.See how long I last-hehe!

I think you might be right, he has a little tum but it's not massive. He used to be a County swimmer so he still has quite a well built upper half. He's 5'10 and takes a medium in most men's clothes. Dr didn't say how much he needed to lose, it was the last appointment of the day and I think he might have been a bit ratty :rotfl:

If he has a tummy then his waist measurement may put him at risk of diabetes. If it is over 37 inches he will need to lose weight. See here for more details.... If that's the case it could explain why the GP suggested he lose weight

Hobson's Choice it beggars belief and I get cross when I hear how people, especially vulnerable, are preyed upon. I really hope the lady is ok.

Please explain... why did I get all excited when I took delivery of my first approved food order this morning? That one is a little bit beyond me! I have cleaned out all of my cupboards, put 1 of what I have two of in the store and the other opened one in the cupboard. When I used the cupboard one up I will take it out the store and make a not that I need to replace the store. I feel nearly there with the monthly meal plan and stocks needed to make those meals. I want to get to a stage where I just need to buy fresh fruit, veg and the odd dairy every few days.

Off to make a bread and putter pudding for the kids. I'm so tired and really struggling today. The housework is being practically ignored. I wish I could do the same for the kids as they are really suffering (that means whinging/crying/boredom = my head hurts lol) with cabin fever with the weather.

Many thanks for the suggestions re my neighbour. I'm going to pass these on to her daughter/grandaughter and see if they can get any joy.
    Still seething!
Still wet and windy as well here. We're going to Symphony Hall in Brum tonight for a concert and that involves a train ride and walk, so hope it improves soon.
    Normal people worry me.

Fuddle:- It seems to me that you are a good Mam and looking after/raising your children properly.
Your Mam and sister are bullying you! It sounds like they have bullied you for years. They and you are in a co-dependency which can only be broken A: by them stopping what they are doing. B: You standing up to them. I know that is easier said than done.
Imagine the help and advice you would give one of your lovely children if they were being bullied at school. Think about how devastated and horrified you would be if they were bullied, then allow yourself to feel that incensed on your own behalf. Until you get angry enough about it instead of being upset/wounded, you will not change their behaviour towards you.
Think of them as bullys not as your Mam and Sister.
Then sit down and write a letter. (Not to be sent) In it relate their behaviour towards you and how it affects you. Hopefully by writing how awful it is and stating how it upsets you, will help you see what you will put up with and what you won't. It will help you draw a line.
Remember their behaviour is observed by your children. Show your children you are not the useless, no good person their Grandmother says you are. Remember you are better than them and always will be. xx

Vjsmum:- Sorry about your Dad, that's awful.

Persisting down here and apparently it's going to all weekend! My Get Up and Go has bu88ered off to sunnier climes.
Lots of housework to do but another cup of tea, my book and a bar of chocolate are top of the list. Possibly a hot bath and a 'nanna' nap, as one of my younger relatives would say!:rotfl:

Whoever mentioned sponge pudding and custard THANKYOU lol - I'm making that tonight whoohoo. I have to confess I sneaked into the bank this morning (RV didnt see cos he was parked round the corner) withdrew an emergency tenner, and whipped into the shop next door for a bag of jelly babies. I blame the weather!!

YW mardatha :D I love being a bad influence on people. Good call on the jelly babies. They got me through my GCSE exams. I used to eat 1/4 lb on the way to the exam and 1/4 lb on the way back.

smileyt Is there space in your ark for me please? I'm happy to do my share of the washing up and can pay in cake :D

fuddle that excitement is normal. At least I hope it is. It's like a big edible lucky dip and the thrill of a bargain. I'm resisting placing an order as there is no way for me to store that many naan breads. My freezers are full to bursting. I do understand what you are going through with your family to some extent. For a long time nothing I did was right or good enough. In the end I stopped visiting as I was finding it way too stressful. Even now, things have improved, but I still feel like I'm walking on egg shells around them.

I've made spicy bottom of the fridge/what is lurking in the cupboard soup. Although I have to confess the having to throw out some bread today. We usually get through tons of the stuff, but for some reason we haven't eaten the last loaf. Hopefully the good cancels out the bad and I won't have to hand in my pinny.
I am longing to bake and even know what I want to bake, but I daren't as we have eaten way too much cake over the past week. A moist almond sponge scattered with chopped strawberries and flaked almonds and demerara sugar sounds sooooooooo good though. I think I'll have to turn the strawberries into sorbet before I get too tempted. There are times I wish I couldn't cook even if it would me DH would have left years ago. I swear he stays for my lemon cake.

    Chin up everyone xxxx
