Can I just ask.......I found the oil cleansing method on here too and want to try it, but those of you who use it, why do you just use olive oil and not the castor/sunflower oils in the article? Is it cost? availability? or have you tried it and decided that olive oil is just as good?.........thanks!
Could some kind person do a link to the original post/method - I had a quick look, but failed miserably to find anything0 -

 eek... my bread maker has just tried to escape!!!!! DH had set it going and about half an hour in we heard an almighty crash from the kitchen  gone in to find the bm on the floor with the lid on the other side of the kitchen and the back of the plug off. Fortunatly all the ingredients had mixed up so there was just a bit lump of dough on the floor rather than flour all over the place!!
The bit where the lid attached has broken on one side but it seems to sit on ok. Going to put it at the back of the work surface and set it going again for the morning. Fingers crossed it's okwe're been using it a lot lately and really can't afford to get a new one.

Copied from Netweather, warnings for Scotland :eek::eek:
Tuesday night and Wednesday morning
Outbreaks of sleet and snow will continue to spread inland across Scotland tonight, though mainly falling as rain in the west. Snow will be heavy in places, particularly over higher ground, with 5-10cm of fresh snow in places, which may lead to travel disruption. Skies will clear across central and southern Scotland for a time overnight, which will lead to some icy stretches on untreated surfaces as temperatures fall close to freezing.
Thursday and Friday
A very strong jet stream running across the North Atlantic towards NW Europe over the next few days, driven by a steep thermal gradient, will rapidly deepen a low pressure system moving NE which will track close to northern Scotland on Thursday, by then a very deep depression with a low central pressure.
Although the exact track of this low is still not certain, strong model agreement today brings the centre of this deep depression northeast across the northernmost part of mainland Scotland during Thursday afternoon, with a risk of very strong and damaging winds possible across Scotland during the day -particularly western areas, the central belt and across to the northeast, where wind gusts may reach 80-90mph with isolated gusts of 100mph not out of the question. Further south, severe gales are also likely across Northern Ireland , northern and (parts of) eastern England - with gusts of 60-70mph likely with isolated gusts of up to 80 mph in exposed locations. Therefore the public are advised to expect travel disruption across northern Britain on Thursday, with a risk of damage to buildings and trees.
Also winds will veer northwesterly on Thursday afternoon, which will bring colder air with sleet and snow showers southeast across Scotland, Northern Ireland, NW England, Wales and later across The Midlands. Heavy snow is possible from these showers, which may bring significant accumulations across western areas with a risk of drifting in the strong winds, therefore there is also a risk of travel disruption from snow later on Thursday and through into Friday morning.
As the severe gale or storm force northwesterly winds transfer out into the North Sea Thursday night and Friday morning, there is also a risk of a storm surge heading down the North Sea which could bring a risk of coastal flooding as high winds and very low air pressure coincide with high tides.
This watch will likely be superseded by an alert nearer the time, once it is clear where the worst conditions are likely to occur.0 -
Thank you all. I woke up feeling mentally better this morning if not physically. I'll be fine, I just had a bad day yesterday.
Thanks Prepareathome, they gave my mum one of those, the difficulty is she can't grip it well enough to squeeze it. I'll try hers when I go over next, since like much else they're considerably dearer here. I'm not optimistic about my being able to grip it. When I moved in here almost 5 years ago I bought 2 cheap dinner services. I'm down to just over 1 quantity wise now (and there are 4 items with chips in). Maybe I should switch to plastic, or anything that comes in styrofoam :rotfl:
I'm starting cooking for the freezer for Christmas today, so that should cheer me up some.
Love to everyone that needs a bit.
The one I have takes the lightest touch to close it, you don't need a strong grip, wish I could remember where I got mine, but it hasn't got a name on, I have had it about 15 years, cord broke so son put another one through it and works fine.
I understand what you mean about breaking dishes, my hands love doing their own thing, they open and I do not have any sensation of them doing it, if its a hand pain day I can't hold them so no breakages then, I have gone through so many dishes, glasses, pyrex bowls, if its breakable I have broken it including about 8 years ago £1k laptop I had, had a week, since then if I ever do move laptop I hug it as if its my tiny baby not using hands at all. Only time good dishes are used now is for dinner parties which I rarely have now or Christmas and I get others to handle them so I don't drop them.Need to get back to getting finances under control now kin kid at uni as savings are zilch

Just remember don't do what my friend did and apply it without checking...
she wasn't wearing her glasses one morning and slapped her usual 'handfull' of olive oil on...
only to find it was a 'flavoured' variety in a similar shaped bottle...
Mexican chilli flavour... we had to take her to hospital as it made her skin sting so she rubbed it and got some in her eyes...not good.
We washed her eyes with milk, which apparently was a good thing...
she was in hospital overnight while they checked her corneas...

so you use that to take off make up and cleanse too? No moisturiser???? You mean I would give up my little pots?:eek::eek::D Not sure I am brave enough for that yet.
And yet I am strangely intrigued...I had the same treatment, and the dermatolagist's advice was not to moisturise for at least 20 minutes after cleansing, as your skin should remoisturise itself, and only if it really needs it should you add anything. So other than when flying or in highly air conditioned environments do I use any moisturiser. Saves me a fortune too...
Effects of R0accutane are grim aren't they? I used to have to smear vaseline over my whole face, even when I was at the pub... Was never without a big pot of Vaselineand a bright red face too
Luckily I have a fabby BF at the time who didn't care :A
so let me get this right. You just slap a load of virgin olive oil on your chops and then wipe it off with a flannel(wet?) then leave it?
Yep redlady, exactly that!
OK, to reply to all... This is how I started, with no knowledge and before research...
I had awful skin... Am a qualified massage therapist and was using Avocado oil with lavender and rose on my clients... Liked the feel of it... Used it on my face to soothe.... worked a treat...
Carried on using it... Experimented with Evening Primrose Oil and Vitamin E capsules... both were a bit thick, but had good results.
Later found out that other people were using the Oil Cleansing Method with Olive Oil... Didn't have olive oil so used sunflower oil.... Great results! Have never used castor oil (as per the usual prescribed method of OCM but will try it at some point)
Moved on to EVOO - great results but no different to avocado or sunflower... Sounds better tho!!!
So yes, rub oil (any of those!) into face and neck, leave if possible (tonight I left for over half hour but have done a lot longer, and have also done only 2 mins) then use hot wet face cloth to wipe off....
Done!!!
Easy, cheap (er) than chips and the best facial I ever had.... And I am a therapist!!!!!!
Thinking of offering Evoo treatments in the new year!!!
Science bit.... Oil will mix with and dissolve other oil... hot wet cloth wipes it away..... Expensive solvent/soap based cleansers = stripping the skin = confused skin = problems.... My theory, and am sure there are other theories but I only speak from experience.
If you think about it.... Mix Oil (say skin oil) with water and what do you get, separation... If you mix oil with oil... you just get more oil... easy to wipe away with a hot facecloth.
This is by no means scientific, but browse the web and ask the questions.... Then ask yourself why you spend £££££££££££s on facial treatments
PS... It will remove the most stubborn of waterproof mascara too!!! An all round winner!!!
I do hope that helps someone xx0 -

:eek::eek: OMG!!!!! Milk is really good for any chilli burns. If you eat a hot chilli and have a burning mouth, either drink milk or put a spoonful of sugar on your tongue... Water is the worst thing to have0 -

my skin also thinned so much I used to find I was bleeding just from pressure on it. But it was worth it. I know they've linked it to depression, but to be honest, I think most people whose skin is bad enough to warrant it are probably pretty depressed anyway.
I have castor oil (I used to do castor oil wraps), so might try some. I have some out of date hemp oil that I use as body oil and might try that too, as I'm about to run out of cleanser. I used to use rose hip oil on my face which was fabulous. I swear my eyelashes got longer! It will be a good way of using a few things up and decluttering, as well as avoiding spending any money, although I will need conventional cleanser for travelling.0
