I switched to the Oil Cleansing Method recently and the difference in my skin is staggering. I have always had bad skin, acne, dry patches, redness etc all at the same time... Even had 2 courses of R0accutane (powerful drug that can cause liver problems amongst a whole bunch of other side effects and very, very unpleasant to take, altho worked well temporarily) and now my skin is the best its ever been!!!
I just use mild olive oil on my face, rub in, leave for a while if I have time, then use a hot clean facecloth all over... No toner, no moisturiser and the best skin I have ever had!!! It takes a bit of getting your head around it, but I swear by it now.
Its known as EVOO on here... Extra Virgin Olive Oil... Evoo sounds posher :rotfl:
That, followed by redlady's quote (I can't work out how to do multiple quotes) sums up why I love this thread: brilliant suggestions and hilarious replies!
Thanks for all the brilliant suggestions - I'm definitely going to give the EVOO a go!0 -
Red - the second one should be more relevant - sort of where do we go from here? Although events may overtake the programme :rotfl:"Life is not about waiting for the storm to pass...it's about learning how to dance in the rain." ~ Vivian Greene0

Can't find the dodgy hugs, sounds like many of us could do with one just now. Softstuff, Beccjte, anyone else in pain, hope you feel better soon.
Taurusgb, hope your hosp. date comes through before long - so frustrating, the waiting.
Congrats DH - bet that was a hard slog!
Been at home all day today as weather was awful, bit boring but got a start on the Christmas preps. I'm not a big fan, do as little as possible really.
Ah, DD just showed me where to find the dodgy hugs!
:grouphug: There you go! Something achieved today!
Have a good evening everyone.0 -
I found it interesting Lizzy as I was still a teenager in the 80's so had no real interest in anything other than make up, clothes and Simon Le Bon!
I will also be watching whether China does indeed go down our road. But it was good to be filled in on the historical events which brought about all this dross and shall certainly be watching the rest.
Moderation greenbee - does not compute with this call sign!:D

Could it just be OO? Or does the extra virgin involved make a difference?
My daughter is currently on her second round of Isotretinoin, which is Roaccutane by another name. THe first lot cleared it beautifully but it fought back with a vengeance. It is taking its time to clear and I don't think she can have any more when this course is finished. I'll have to see - can't believe putting oil onto already oily skin will help her - but i sometimes use a vitamin E oil on mine - OO would be cheaper!
Might watch that Robert Peston programme on i-player whilst i clear up the devastation known usually as the kitchen :rotfl:I wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
Thank you all. I woke up feeling mentally better this morning if not physically. I'll be fine, I just had a bad day yesterday.prepareathome wrote: »
I would consider buying something like this http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/8650751/c_1/1%7Ccategory_root%7CHealth+and+personal+care%7C14418350/c_2/2%7C14418350%7CMobility+aids%7C14418351/c_3/3%7Ccat_14418351%7CMobility+and+home+help%7C14418354.htm
I have been using one since I was in my early 30's since first attack of vertigo and I although I changed to a light weight model, like that one, ( first ones were rather heavy) I won't be without it, use it indoors and out ( rubbish blows into front and side garden and when its nice and I have a good day I go out to do my rubbish patrol) no more falling over.
Thanks Prepareathome, they gave my mum one of those, the difficulty is she can't grip it well enough to squeeze it. I'll try hers when I go over next, since like much else they're considerably dearer here. I'm not optimistic about my being able to grip it. When I moved in here almost 5 years ago I bought 2 cheap dinner services. I'm down to just over 1 quantity wise now (and there are 4 items with chips in). Maybe I should switch to plastic, or anything that comes in styrofoam :rotfl:
I'm starting cooking for the freezer for Christmas today, so that should cheer me up some.
Love to everyone that needs a bit.Softstuff- Officially better than 0070 -
Beccjte - I had an incredible tooth ache when we moved that my dentist gave me really low antibiotics for which didnt work, he refused to see me until all the tablets were gone even though it was obvious they werent working. I collapsed and was taken to a walk in centre who transferred me straight to hospital, they were excellent and gave me two sets of much stronger antibiotics and wonderful painkillers!! I cried when the doctor left the room and re-appeared with water and painkillers, the relief was incredible especially as they worked almost immediately. The hospital was very clear that if the dentist cant or wont see you its always better to get seen by a doctor as there are real risks in leaving it.0

Can I just ask.......I found the oil cleansing method on here too and want to try it, but those of you who use it, why do you just use olive oil and not the castor/sunflower oils in the article? Is it cost? availability? or have you tried it and decided that olive oil is just as good?.........thanks!0
