A poor excuse I'm afraid - I am a big fan of dark chocolate - your offer to make amends, however, is sufficiently generous:D:D

ETA - Oops, nearly forgot - don't forget we'll need sweeties for a certain member of the Scottish contingent!

    Hi all

Thanks for the warm welcome the other day, sorry not been back on, had a hectic few days at work & the last thing I feel like is looking at a computer screen after being glued to one at work (Don't mind if I'm being paid for the pleasure of course).

Decided against the expensive massager machine (for now) & am trialling a VERY MSE OS therapy as recommended by a colleague... i.e. a tennis ball between the sore area and the wall!!! Don't laugh, it's really quite effective! Can also be used on the lower back area whilst laid on the floor to good effect. I seem to remember using this method whilst pregnant with DS after it was recommended by the midwife. Sorry, can't remember who asked if massage machine was noisy... but No, it was surprisingly quiet.

Byatt Yes, it's me you've seen on the CS bargain of the week thread - & had a few more small successes this week so will post there. Hope you are feeling better.

Woohoo!!! get you GQ living it up with purple Morning Fresh!!! Well, I'll have you know I've had a very glamorous encounter with a nail brush, a bottle of Stardrops & my bee-keeping suit in MY kitchen this evening... Oh dear, must get out more, don't know which is saddest, doing the scrubbing or posting about it... Note to self: do not let whole world know what wretched spinsters do on a lovely, sunny evening...

Sorry for everyone who's had/having shocking weather. Not been too bad at all here today, some heavy showers interspersed with bright sunny spells long enough to get dog out for a short walk.

On the whole a positive day, even though DS turned nose up at lovely home-cooked Sweet & Sour chicken & noodles when he got in from work. Ate half of it then decided it wasn't "all that nice". Kept calm & carried on, smiled sweetly as I removed his plate, washed the sauce off the chicken & fed it to the grateful dog & told him he was welcome to cook his own food any time he liked... I used to get cross, & shout, a lot. I've mellowed A LOT & can't bear the draining negativity any more so I just Keep Calm & Carry On. To be fair, he quite often does cook, very well too, & for me too. Think he's just having an off day & is "over-tired" after another late night last night & early start this morning. He'll learn, probably the hard way that it really does catch up with you quickly. Oh, to be just turned 18 again & feeling invincible! I can just about remember it. 19 was my VERY best year... sigh!

Right, off to the CS bargain of the week to report in there & have a general "nosey" around.

Thanks to all who post. I love reading. Hope the Sand Man brings you all happy dreams. x

OH made Tandoori chicken today from scratch. Tried a bit but its for tomorrows lunch in a wrap and was lovely. Just cheap chicken thigh fillet which was 90p for 490g, basic yogurt and other cheap spices.6pcb9t.jpg

Got 8 filleted thighs out of it so in total about £1.75. You pay £3 for a tikka starter with 4 little pieces of chicken and it honestly didn't taste much different.

    Is that "Deadlocked"?

I have just read it and really enjoyed it.

DH is getting enthusiastic about ordering a potting shed that is getting bigger in his imagination by the minute. At this rate there will be more shed than garden!;);)
:) Yes indeedy. I was reading these before they appeared on HBO, being as I am wot you might call a leader in popular kulture..........:rotfl:And Sod's Law dictates that sheds are always too small so get the biggest you can possibly squeeze onto your plot, the DH is absolutely right about this one.

*Grovels apologetically* Sorry, Bobbykins .... But it was dark chocolate and not many people like that .... how about I go onto Approved Foods and order the weight limit of 25kg of chocolate for us all, to make amends? :rotfl:
:D Well, those 25 kg will see my all right but what about the rest of the ladies?

 Yeah, us spinsters rock, don't we? I lead a quiet life most of the time with occasional moments of lairiness. Discreet questioning of colleagues, friends and acquaintances, plus observations in the field, as it were, have revealed that the majority of everybody's life is humdrum. Go to work, come home, eat, sleep, watch TV, procrastinate about the dishes, iron things, eat chocolate etc etc...................I guess even multi-millionnairess supermodels wake up in the morning and have to brush their teeth and are grumpy until they've had a caffeine hit.

Well, I have awakened to a glorious sunny day and the weatherman said it will be the best weather for several days and I have to go to blinking w*rk. Honestly, don't these employers know that some of us have gardening to be getting on with?!

Right, need to wrench the laundry from the washer and drink another pint of tea to bring my brain up to operational speed. And there's more dishes to wash. I was so sure I'd caught up yestereve. I only have 5 dinner plates and 5 bowls but I think they must be reproducing. Perhaps the trick is to do what some extreme minimalists do and have only one per person..........

Yeah, I could hide most of my crockery away (perhaps among the tomatoes under the bed) as replacements for smashes/ visitors and just use the bare minimum and then the dishes won't be able to sprawl all over the kitchen............:p

These are desperate times, ladies, and call for desperate measures. Laters GQ x

    Good Morning All :)

The sun is shining on Chateau SDG this morning and on the load of laundry that is on the washing line. Long may it last as the laundry mountain is threatening to avalance down the stairs.

It's DH's 41st birthday today, so my day is going to involve cooking what seems like a whole pig's worth of ribs, proper chips as I've borrowed a friend's deep fat fryer and I also need to make his cake. He always has one of these.. http://www.deliaonline.com/recipes/type-of-dish/vegetarian-food/lemon-roulade.html
Delia has a lot to answer for. I've been making them for years and to be honest I'm sick of the things, but it's his birthday.
I made microwave lemon curd to fill it for the first time yesterday. The first batch had a hint of scrambled egg about it, but the second lot and the batch of orange, lemon and lime curd I made are lush. It's dangerous knowledge to have in this house.

Apart from being shattered and not happy leaving the house by myself, I'm doing much better thank goodness. Thank you all again for the support.

I'll post again later but need to get ribs simmering and chips soaking.

    Take care everyone ((((((((((((((((((hugs)))))))))))))))))))))))

:p You're operating on the assumption that the table is clear enough to eat off............:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

I wish we had video. If you could only see me.. wearing a purple sparkly scarf knotted under my chin, tucked into a purple & green handknitted-and-stretched-lol gilet, fastened at the front by a giant crocodile clip. Sticking wee paper flowers and butterflies onto pink shimmery vanilla scented soap.
    Happy.
    But demented. :D
